MANUEL PABLO DOUBTFUL FOR SUNDAY

18 Dec 2009
Right-back defender Manuel Pablo didn’t complete Friday’s session at the Riazor and is the main doubt for the clash against Valencia, his place could be taken by Laure.

Deportivo trained on Friday behind closed doors at the Riazor, the main news was that Manuel Pablo worked at a different pace than the rest of the players, the Canarian suffered a muscular problem (biceps femoris) on Wednesday and didn’t end the training session. The side defender isn’t discarded yet for Sunday’s clash against Valencia (21h00 CET), but with only two days remaining for the game his participation is now at risk.

If the Canarian defender is not fit for the game, then his place will be taken by ex-Fabril Laureano Sanabria ‘Laure’, the Madrilenian played in both Copa clashes against Real Murcia, but doesn’t appear in liga since matchday 03 (2-3 Vs RCD Espanyol), precisely since that day coach Miguel Angel Lotina has kept the same line of four defenders in liga: Manuel Pablo on the right side, Colotto and Lopo and the centre and Filipe on the left.

After the training session ended, Manuel Pablo talked at the press room and explained his current status, “I already have the experience of past cases, because I passed through similar situations and now it is very similar. It isn’t serious, because didn’t fell any pain at the beginning, and I hope to be ready for Sunday. That’s’ why I am trying to train seeing if the sensations are positive, but I still feeling weird. We still have three days, tomorrow I won’t force myself, if I see that can play, then I will do it, no matter is with a bandage. We still have time until Sunday, the game is at night, so I will have a few more hours.”

The positive news of the day were to see Riki and Lassad working with the ball, all appoints that both strikers will be ready for January and could even be fit to play the first game of the new year against Real Zaragoza. Andrés Guardado is also recovered from his thigh injury and will surely take part of the match against the Valencians.

About the work done in the training session, Lotina specifically worked with each line, giving special indications to the defenders, midfielders and attackers. What called the attention is that the Basque manager tested the same lineup used against Almeria, with the only novelty of Laure replacing Manuel Pablo and leaving Guardado outside the scheme. Tested lineup: Aranzubia – Laure, Colotto, Lopo, Filipe Luis - Sergio, Antonio Tomás, Juan Domínguez - Juan Rodríguez, Mista - Adrián.
