A LIGHT TO START THE YEAR

01 Jan 2010
Good news on the last training session of the year at Abegondo; the major part of the players on doubt worked without problems and Lotina is now having more options to build up a lineup. Bodipo, Angulo and Mista are the only casualties.

The year 2010 is now having a good start as coach Miguel Angel Lotina recovered several players during the last training session of 2009. On Thursday central defenders Albert Lopo and Zé Castro plus midfielder Sergio worked without any problem and therefore the three of them are ready to play on Sunday at La Romareda.

Lassad also completed the whole session though with some precautions, while Riki seems to be fine no matter he didn’t take part of the whole training. Meanwhile Juca worked with the rest of the group during a few minutes and later went to the gym. Only attacker Rodolfo Bodipo remains out as he still dragging a knee problem.

In this way the Equatoguinean striker plus left-back Brayan Angulo (knee ligaments) and forward Mista (groin) are the only discarded men for the trip to Zaragoza. However, it is very probable that Juca will also miss the game since the doctors want to be cautious with his case (ankle sprain). The team will train again on Friday, but it will be a ‘light’ session, on Saturday Lotina will release the list of picked players for the trip to La Romareda.

After the session ended, the players and coaching staff wished a good new year to the fans, Filipe Luis talked at the press room of Abegondo and send a message to everybody, “People should be calm, because great players have passed over here and we aren’t less than them. We will give the last drop of blood for Depor.”

The Brazilian also said that January won’t be the month that will decide the final position of Depor in la liga, “No, for me the league is decided in the final ten matchdays, but it is true that we face rivals against whom is important to take some points. But well, it is going to be a pretty month, because everybody will have the chance to play and we must enjoy it.”

THE PLAYERS’ WAGES
On Thursday Sportpaper AS informed that Deportivo is having problems to pay the players’ wages, the Galician club has been paying €12,000 to each man within the last months, and according to the report no payments will be made on January and February, all of this due to the financial crisis. But president Lendoiro has promised to pay all the debt before the end of the season, and according to AS the whole team trusts in his word.

Manuel Pablo, one of the captains of the team, talked to reporters and confirmed the situation while he showed his confidence in the president, “They told us that in December, January and February we will not receive the full amount of what we have to perceive, but we are getting some money. The president has always responded. Even in the best years he had to pay with promissory notes during some months.”

Filipe Luis also confirmed the issue, “It is a subject appearing in the newspapers, but we are not talking of it. Besides, €12,000 per month is enough money to live; at least it is what I think.”
