SERIOUS INJURY FOR FILIPE

24 Jan 2010
Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis suffered a serious injury during the game Vs Athletic Bilbao; the defender scored a goal but broke his right ankle in the attempt. He was taken to a hospital and will miss the rest of the season.

The victory against Athletic Bilbao left very bad news, because Filipe Luis suffered a serious injury in the play in which he scored the first goal of the game. He found a cross of Bodipo at the far post, the Brazilian jumped and connected the ball in the air, he was able to score, but landed badly and suffered a serious injury on his right leg

Later, the doctors confirmed that he suffered a fracture and dislocation on the right ankle and the player was rushed to the hospital (USP Santa Teresa de A Coruña). More exams will be made within the next hours and the player could be operated. For the moment it is speculated that he will be out for four months, and possible will need another two months for the rehabilitation.

This means that Filipe will miss his dream of playing the FIFA World Cup of South Africa 2010, alone with the rest of Depor’s season. It means huge problems for coach Lotina as the other left-back at the team, Brayan Angulo, is also out for a while due to a knee ligaments injury.
