Lotina is recovering Mista and Guardado, but Sergio is delaying his comeback and will be out for another six or eight weeks. Meanwhile Espanyol arrived to this game criticised for the poor game displayed outside home.

Coach Miguel Angel Lotina could start breathing again, because he is recovering some of the offensive players that he missed during the tough matches of January, more in concrete it’s the case of left winger Andrés Guardado and striker Miguel Angel Ferrer ‘Mista’. The duo worked at the top on Tuesday and Wednesday and all appoints that both players will be part of the list that will travel to Catalonia in order to face RCD Espanyol (Sunday, 17h00 CET).

Guardado talked to reporters on Wednesday and was happy to know that he is close to return, “At the beginning it seemed that it was going to last more time, but well, the recovery process has been very good. They talked of more days, then I don’t have any hurry to rush the things, but if the sensations are good and if we are working at the top during the week… I don’t see why I can’t play for some minutes.”

Later it was Lotina who talked to reporters; he confessed that his plans are to use the Mexican for a few minutes against Espanyol, “Guardado is recovered from his injury. He is a little tired, but we count with him for the weekend. Not for the fully ninety minutes, and I don’t know if as a starter, but we want to see him for a few minutes.” Also, he explained that Guardado won’t be used as a side defender as it was commented by a reporter, “If Pablo Álvarez and Guardado, to whom I have to speak, aren’t starters, we will see how to solve the things.” What the coach confirmed is that Manuel Pablo (right-back) and Laure (left-back) will repeat their positions compared to the squad that played at Malaga.

The Basque manager was also very happy because he is now having plenty options for the attacking zone, ”Bodipo is living his best moment on the season, Riki is returning, Mista is at the top and Adrian will show all his potential during the second round.” Lotina was also remembering the defeat of the first round against the Catalans, “It was good for us, we reacted and we had more attitude in the following games. They made us a favour. In Malaga we made a new step, we are regaining the stability.”

But who won’t be ready is midfielder Sergio, the Catalan will not be able to face his former club after a relapse in his muscular contracture injury (elongation in a muscle of his right-knee). The Catalan started to train at the top on Saturday, but on Monday he felt pain in the same region and stopped the work. New scans were made in Wednesday and it was determined that he will need between six or eight weeks to be recovered. It is the first time since his arrival to Depor that Sergio spends so much time out of action.

At least the good news was to see Brayan Angulo starting to train apart from the team, the Colombian left-back was completing a series of flexion exercises and running exercises. He also was interviewed by Depor Sport and revealed that “I dream of returning before the end of la liga”

Meanwhile, Filipe Luis is also dreaming to return before the end of the campaign and even to play the World Cup, as he told to a Brazilian website, “They already removed the stitches on the leg and I'm moving a little. The recovery is within our plan and I think that in three or four months I'll be back on the pitch. I have never given up about playing the World Cup, and will do everything to participate on it " On Wednesday the Brazilian visited his team mates at Abegondo and passed some medicals.

At Espanyol, the media in Catalonia has been criticizing the performance of the team playing away from home, and it’s that the only victory, and even the only goals scored by the team in this condition, occurred at the Riazor. Therefore the hope in order to achieve the permanence passes through the points that could be added at home.

On Tuesday coach Mauricio Pochettino was remembering that he warned about the current situation, ”I said it when the past season was ending and also at the start of the present one, that this was going to be a hard and complicate year, a transition season in which we were going to do a great effort, because we were going to have all kind of difficulties, and it was like that.”

About possible casualties for the game, Iván De La Peña is already discarded after going trough surgery during the week in order to correct a muscular problem on his right fibula, while striker Ferran Corominas is doubtful due to a hamstring problem sustained in Wednesday’s training. At least the coach is recovering midfielders Moisés Hurtado (hamstring), and Shunsuke Nakamura (ankle) plus defender Juan Forlín (muscular), while attacker Jose Maria Callejón returns after he couldn’t face Real Madrid due to a clause in his contract.
