Depor is struck again by the injuries as Lotina plans the important visit to Villarreal, which still considered as a direct rival for the European competitions. Depor’s coach hopes to count with Guardado and Pablo Alvarez.

Crucial game for Villarreal as they are eight points behind the European zone (El Madrigal, Sunday, 17h00 CET), a new defeat will probably end their aspirations to reach the top six places, especially taking in mind that Deportivo is a direct rival. To mention that coach Miguel Angel Lotina has been, again, struck by the injuries as he lost his best striker, Riki, plus his best defender, Lopo, this last one due to suspension.

Riki will be out between four and six weeks after suffering a new adductor injury in the past game with Xérez CD, the Madrilenian is the Pichichi at the team with four goal scored. Meanwhile, Lassad Nouioui will not return form France until next week, which leaves Lotina with three alternatives for the striking zone: Rodolfo Bodipo, Adrián López and Miguel Angel Ferrer ‘Mista’

It isn’t clear yet the option that Lotina will choose; the truth is that the three of them aren’t living their best moment. Bodipo has been a starter in the last three liga encounters and still searching for his first goal of the liga season, while Adrián is passing through a drought period of  785 minutes without scoring a goal, his last goal was in December against Barcelona. Finally, Mista is just returning after surpassing a groin problem that left him out of the squad within the last two months.

Clearer are the things at defense, Lotina already announced that Zé Castro will replace Albert Lopo, the Catalan will miss his first minutes on the liga season after picking his fifth yellow card of the season against Xérez. Lotina expects that the Portuguese is motivated enough with the upcoming FIFA World Cup, and even announced that the ex-Atletico might stay in the starting eleven until the end of the season.

Zé Castro talked to reporters on Wednesday and expressed his sorrow for not been a regular starter with Depor, “This is the worst moment in my career. I feel a deep sorrow for not been playing in liga. The life is not the same, because I live these things with intensity. I respect the hierarchies and the different opinions, if they think I should play, good, if not, I will be there supporting. Piscu is also working at the top, and also wants to play. I don’t need a favour. If I don’t play, I won’t be able to fulfill the dream I had since my childhood (playing the World Cup), but I don’t want to play just to go to the World cup, but to prove my value.”

For the moment Lotina is waiting to witness the recovery of wingers Pablo Álvarez and Andrés Guardado, both are carrying with muscular problems since the game against Xérez and didn’t complete the training sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday. To make things worse Brazilian midfielder Juca missed Wednesday’s session due to sinusitis. But doctors expect that the trio will be fit for Sunday’s game, actually the Mexican said after Wednesday’s training that he is not feeling pain while it is expected that Pablo Álvarez will complete the full session on Thursday. Once again, four Fabril’s players are working with the first team: Juan Dominguez, Seoane, Raúl and Rochela.

Meanwhile, Villarreal is more concern of “saving the season” achieving the pass to the next round of the UEFA Europa League. Tonight the Yellow submarine visits VfL Wolfsburg after the 2-2 draw at El Madrigal and needs to win the game in order to advance (or in other case a draw with three or more goals). It will just be the fifth game for new coach Juan Carlos Garrido Fernández, who replaced Ernesto Valverde at the start of the month.

Garrido has found all kind of problems inside a team that seems unmotivated, the main two are the important casualties and the problems at defence. Villarreal’s casualties aren’t so big as the ones of Depor, but still important, starting with Santiago Cazorla, who is out for a while due to a back problem, while striker Giuseppe Rossi has missed the last four games after the illness of his father –he died on Tuesday-.

Meanwhile, the defensive problems are marked by the fact that Villarreal has allowed at least one goal within its last nine official games, actually the Valencians have allowed nine goals within the last ten days, including the six suffered against Real Madrid in liga (2-6), which was their worst defeat at Primera División. At least Garrido is recovering Gonzalo Rodríguez, who has surpassed a thigh problem and should be fit to play against Depor.

And to make things worse, new problems are appearing at the horizon, because on Monday Canal + revealed a private conversation between Garrido and president Fernando Roig in which the coach said that “Marcos Senna, for how he is doing, is not good enough for this team". On Wednesday nobody at the club wanted to comment the issue. Curiously, the Brazilian midfielder has played all the minutes in the four matches since the arrival of Garrido.
