The suspension of Lopo is forcing Lotina to make a change at the centre of the defence; all appoints that Ze Castro and Colotto will be the duo that will play against Villarreal, a combination that doesn’t play together since May of the past year.

Albert Lopo will miss his first minutes on the liga season after picking his fifth yellow card of the season during the past game against Xérez CD. The Catalan was the only field player of Deportivo that had completed all the minutes in the first 23 matchdays of the season. Now Aranzubia will remain as the only Depor’s player with a perfect mark in the competition.

To mention that apart from Lopo, only three field players have performed for the perfect mark of 2,070 on the liga season: central defender Cata Diaz (Getafe), left-back Joan Capdevila (Villarreal), and striker Nino (Tenerife). The other ten men that have played all the possible minutes are goalkeepers: Víctor Valdes (Barcelona), Gustavo Munúa (Malaga), Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Gorka Iraizoz (Athletic Bilbao), Ricardo (Osasuna), Diego Lopez (Villarreal), Sergio Aragoneses (Tenerife), Renan (Xérez), Juan Pablo (Sporting) and Aranzubia (Deportivo)

Now Lotina is planning to rescue Zé Castro from the bench in order to play alongside Argentine Diego Colotto at the centre of the defence. The curiosity is that these two men don’t play together in an official game since May of the past year; it was for a home liga game against Real Valladolid (May 2) and it was possible since Lopo was out due to a Soleus problem.

That Soleus injury left Lopo out of action for a month, and precisely Lotina chose the combination Zé Castro-Colotto as the solution to face the four liga matches missed by the Catalan defender, and the good thing is that Depor only allowed one goal in those four encounters: 1-0 at Athletic Bilbao (matchday 31), 2-0 Vs UD Almeria (matchday 32), 1-1 at Malaga FC (matchday 33) and 1-0 Vs Valladolid (matchday 34).

What’s truth is that currently these two men are facing opposite situations, Colotto is a regular starter since matchday 04 (1,800 minutes on the liga season), while Ze Castro has only played in Copa Del Rey plus in four matches in liga (275 minutes on the season). His last game in the competition was for the final five minutes at Getafe as he replaced Guardado (2-0).  This situation explains the complete different speeches gave by both men on these days.

First Zé Castro talked to reporters on Wednesday and expressed his disappointment for not been a regular starter with Depor, “This is the worst moment in my career. I feel a deep sorrow for not been playing in liga. The life is not the same, because I live these things with intensity. I respect the hierarchies and the different opinions, if they think I should play, good, if not, I will be there supporting. Piscu is also working at the top, and also wants to play. I don’t need a favour. If I don’t play, I won’t be able to fulfill the dream I had since my childhood (playing the World Cup), but I don’t want to play just to go to the World cup, but to prove my value.”

On Thursday it was time for Colotto, the Argentine said that he understands the feelings of the Portuguese, while he reaffirmed his happiness for been a regular starter, “These are moments that any player can live (Ze Castro’s situation), we all pass through this, and all need to know how to handle it. I try to maximize this moment because I'm having continuity, I'm bringing things and feel important and obviously do not want to miss this chance. Each one will hold on to that. I'm fine, comfortable at this team, I feel important and I'm happy. The coach will have a decision and knows who should play every weekend, I just feel fine, with confidence."
