REVIEW: SOMOZAS 4 – FABRIL 0 (TERCERA)

05 Mar 2010
Fabril’s worst defeat of the season, marked by the problems with the casualties and even with the late arrival to the stadium. Still, Depor B still second in the group and still have one less game than first place Cerceda.
BEFORE THE GAME
Coach Tito Ramallo was having eight casualties for the game; four of them for injury reasons: Joshua, Karl, Vieytes and Hugo Garcia, while the other four were the cases of the picked players by Lotina for the match at Villarreal: Juan Dominguez, Rochela, Seoane and Añon. That’s why the coach decided to pick six players from Juvenil A, team that rested in the weekend due to the weather conditions: playmaker Juan Carlos, winger Diego Vela, midfielder Richi, central defenders José Manuel and Uxio and striker Iago Beceiro. The last three were picked for the first time to Depor B.
Diego Rivas was at the goal, Alberto Valencia played at the right-back position, and Raúl Garcia performed at the left. The big novelty was the debut of Uxio Marcos, a 17-year-old central defender that was already called to Spain’s U-17 squad, he was joined by Castillo at the centre of the defence. Héctor and Dani were the pivotes, in attack only Diego Vela was performing in his normal position as he was attacking from the right flank, then left-back Cristian Valle was occupying the left wing, right winger Chirri acted as a playmaker ad since there was no strikers available for the game, Pichichi Luis Angel performed at the centre of the attack.
To mention that there was a problem with the bus and the team barely had time to arrive to the game (the distance between A Coruña and Pardiñas is 75 Km), therefore the players didn’t have time to warm up. The rival was AS Somozas, team that was penultimate in the group and that was coming to this encounter after only adding one point within the last seven matches. To make things worse, the team coached by ex-Depor Nando was having the casualties of midfielders Daniel Sicardi ‘Kata’, Andrés Freire ‘Nes’ and striker Dani Garcia, though he was recovering winger Diego Charlón.
THE MATCH
Fabril’s weirdest game on the season; it is truth that the team isn’t passing through its best moment, but there were two external factors that influenced in the game: the eight casualties at Ramallo’s squad and the late arrival to Pardiñas. The visiting players barely had time to dress up and jumped into the grass without warming up, and Fabril paid the price for its delayed arrival, because by minute 17 it was already losing by two goals.
And the first three goals came in aerial plays, firstly as midfielder Edgar Alvariño Martínez ‘Edy’ headed a lateral free-kick without any opposition, just six minutes later keeper Diego Rivas missed to clear out a short-range cross coming from the right, as result Emeka found the ball inside the area and scored from close range.
The locals had a new opportunity at minute 25, again during an aerial play, but this time Enmanuel missed the target after he headed a corner-kick, but who didn’t miss was winger Diego Charlón, who seized a header of Edy in a new corner-kick for Somozas. There was no reaction and Depor played the worst firth half on this season.
Ramallo ordered two changes for the second half, he replaced debutant Uxio with Momar Diagne, while 16-year-old Iago Beceiro debuted as he replaced Vela. The moves meant a little “revolution” at the formation, because Valle was now playing as central defender, Chirri moved to the right wing and Iago Beceiro was performing on the left, same position that he is covering at Juvenil A. Finally, Momar joined Dani and Héctor in a triple pivote figure at midfield.
The changes shook the offensive game of Fabril, but the visitors just had three clear opportunities in this half, the first was a free-kick attempt from Luis Angel, the second was a long-range shot of Dani and the most clear one was a one-one-one play of Valle against local keeper Montoya, but Fabril was going to end scoreless for the third straight time.
And to make thing worse, the communication between Castillo and Diego Rivas failed in the worst moment, which midfielder Luis Guillermo Coedo seized to score the fourth goal and sentence the game. The final move of Ramallo was to put Juan Carlos on the pitch, but the young playmaker wasn’t able to change the story of this unfaithful game.
AFTER THE GAME
Terrible game for a Fabril that didn’t even arrive on time to the stadium, there were a lot of errors and in the end the B squad of Deportivo allowed three goals in aerial plays plus another one that was a product of a distraction in defence. It is the worst defeat on the season. Now the team is two points under Cerceda, though Fabril has played one less game. On Sunday the team will host seventh place SD Ordenes at Abegondo (12h00 CET).
Comments of Tito Ramallo:, “We were coming from a bad week, so what starts badly, it ends badly. There are a lot of thing affecting us right now, starting with the problem had with the bus, which forced the players to start very cold. It is clear that it wasn’t our day and we paid the price in the strategic plays. The truth is that there are days in which the best thing is to not wake up. Now I hope to recover some players and try to correct some things.”
