SEARCHING A NEW RECORD

23 Mar 2006
If Depor conquers a new win in Santiago Bernabe??, the squad will tie the record of nine away victories achieved in one season, a thing that has only occurred in two campaigns (1996/97 and 2002/03). With that mission in mind coach Caparr??s has started to prepare for this crucial match.

The good run that Deportivo has maintained in the away games is precisely the main fact why the Galicians are fighting at the top of the table, Caparr??s' squad is for the moment the second best visitor in la liga with a record of 27 points gained, a number only surpassed by Barcelona (29).

Caparr??s knows that the difference of seven points with Valencia is one that will be hard to reach, but with Sevilla facing the Valencians on the weekend he also knows that a win against Madrid will reduce the distances. For that reason he's preparing a similar lineup to the one used in the last away win against Getafe. The defensive line will be the same with the duo Coloccini-Juanma in the centre, H?©ctor will continue in the right side while Capdevila will perform on the left.

In midfield Caparr??s is thinking in maintaining the combination between Sergio and Duscher although the presence of De Guzm??n shouldn't be discarded. Munitis will appear as second striker while Enrique Romero could perform on the left wing, a very usual formation used by Caparr??s in the tough visits.

The right wing will be for V?ctor, the Madrilian has scored three of the last four goals of Deportivo and has showed an improvement in his game. He talked with the media about the intentions of his squad at this point of the season: "Mathematically we have options to fight for the Champions League, but it's fundamental to maintain our current position."

However V?ctor knows the difficulty of the mission and remembers the potential of the rival: "You must have respect for this team although they aren't living their best moment, they have potential and our mission must be minimize their virtues and exploit ours. Let's hope that our rival will keep missing their chances and we don't."

The position of striker will be for Diego Trist??n, Caparr??s will continue to trust in his experience despite of the critics that Depor's forwards have received recently, with an average of one goal every two games the strikers seems to be missing their best asset: the goal. In fact only two of the last eight goals scored by Depor were conquered by the strikers.
