Lotina seems to have a defined lineup for the clash against Valladolid; Riki and Sergio are back in the trainings, but won’t take part of the match.

Deportivo is regaining its injured players, on Wednesday striker Riki and midfielder Sergio started to work with the squad after a long absence. Both completed big part of the session and just left for the final part to continue doing  some specific exercises. Riki played his last game with Depor one month ago as he left the pitch injured during the home liga clash against Xérez.

Meanwhile, Sergio is out since January after suffering a knee injury in the home liga game against Osasuna. The two-month absence means the longest one in the career of the Catalan midfielder. There are also good news with Juca; on Tuesday Lotina was worried for him as he said that the midfielder was evolving “slower”, but the Brazilian was feeling better the day after and it has been announced that he will be back in trainings by Thursday. He even made some exercises alongside Riki and Sergio during Wednesday’s session

However, none of these three men will be picked for Saturday’s clash against Real Valladolid, mainly because they are missing match fitness. Neither is probable to see them in the list for the visit to Sporting Gijón (Tuesday, 20h00 CET), but the three of them might return for the home game against Getafe.

The other two injured players, the two left-backs at the first team, are also giving positive signs; Filipe is no longer using the crutches and already started the physical therapy to overcome his Fibula and ankle fracture, while Colombian Brayan Angulo is at the final stage of the recovery process from his knee ligaments injury. It has been said that he might be available to play at the beginning of May.

About the lineup to face Valladolid, Lotina is quite happy with the 4-2-3-1 (4-3-3) scheme and is planning to keep it, but must do two modifications due to the suspensions of midfielder Antonio Tomás and side defender Laure. The absence of Laure is more important, because with Filipe and Angulo injured, the Basque coach will have to pull somebody from Deportivo B.

And the selected one is right-footed Diego Seoane, who already debuted with the first squad during the Copa clash at Sevilla (1-0). Lotina is also thinking of Raúl Garcia, one of the two left-backs at Fabril, however the coach seems to prefer Seoane, as he said to reporters, “I haven’t decided yet who will replace Laure, because I still need to mature my ideas, but it’s true that right now Seoane has more chances, though he isn’t a natural left-back defender.”

Other sign that appoints to Seoane as a starter is the fact that the club has prohibited to the 21-year-old defender to bring declarations to the media, at least until Saturday; this is the same policy followed by the club with Juan Dominguez, the other Fabril’s player that already performed as a starter in liga. However, Seoane will give a press conference at Abegondo during this day. It will be the only time on this week in which the youngster will talk to reporters. This policy hasn’t been applied to Raúl, the other candidate for the spot at the left, he will probably be on the bench for Saturday’s clash.

The rest of the defensive line should be the same one that stopped Sevilla on the last weekend, with Aranzubia at the goal, Manuel Pablo at the right side and the couple Diego Colotto-Albert Lopo at the centre. At midfield, the absence of Antonio Tomás will be covered delaying the position of Juan Rodriguez to the centre of the pitch.

Guardado and Juan Domínguez will perform at the sides of the Andalusian multifunctional player, the delayed position of ‘Juanro’ will open a space for Pablo Alvarez, who will be one of the playmakers inn the formation. The other will be Juan Carlos Valerón or Lassad Nouioui, something that Lotina hasn’t decided yet. Adrián will be the central attacker after scoring against Sevilla, while its uncertain if Mista will be picked for the game. The Murcian is  already fit to play, but hasn’t been called for any match within the last three weeks.

Meanwhile, the media in Valladolid sees this game as one of the three “finals” that the club will play in a matter of a week. And it’s that after the game at the Riazor the Violet team will face two straight matches against direct rivals: Vs RCD Espanyol (March 24) and at Xérez CD (March 28).

For the game at the Riazor, coach Onesimo Sánchez will miss midfielder Álvaro Rubio (fibula), defender Javier Baraja (muscular problem), and wingers Jonathan Sesma (muscular contracture) and Sisinio González ‘Sisi’, this last one operated in January due to a fibula problem. At least the coach is recovering midfielder Borja Fernández, who missed the game with Real Madrid due to gastroenteritis.

Striker Manucho was also doubtful due to a knee ligaments problem, but on Wednesday he took part of a friendly match against Valladolid B. The lineup used in that game was composed by the bench players: Fabricio - Barragán, Sereno, Luis Prieto, Marcos - Borja, Font, Keko, Canobbio – Marquitos, Alberto Bueno. To mention that ex-Depor members Fabricio and Antonio Barragán are having a negative season, the keeper hasn’t debuted yet in liga, while the right-back defender has only played ten liga encounters (615 minutes).
