Squad news

Again the casualties are the main news at Deportivo, because Lotina only has sixteen first squad players available for the liga encounter, to make things worse Adrián is doubtful. Even Lotina and second coach Ribera will miss the game.

The first news on Friday was to see Depor’s players training at the Riazor; it’s the first time on the year in which the players have been able to work at the stadium before a match. The poor condition of the grass is forcing to cancel any activity there and the authorities only gave permission to play the official games, this in order to protect a pitch that needs to replant the grass for the first time in 17 years.

But since Depor has lost the last two games and in order to motivate the players, who actually were the ones asking to have a training session at the Riazor, the permission was given and Friday’s training took place at the stadium. The club is also planning to motivate the fans and that’s why they activated a plan that’s giving three additional tickets to every socio for the price of five euros.

About the squad news, the casualties continues to be the main comment surrounding Deportivo, and it’s that Lopo and Aranzubia are suspended for one game, while Pablo Alvarez (ankle sprain), Angulo (knee), Filipe (fibula & ankle) and Juca (muscular) are out injured. Even Lotina and his second coach, Jose Luis Ribera, are out after been sent off against Sporting.

This means that the Basque coach only has sixteen available players from the first squad: Manu, Manuel Pablo, Laure, Ze Castro, Piscu, Colotto, Sergio, Antonio Tomás, Juan Rodriguez, Valerón, Iván Pérez, Mista, Riki, Bodipo, Lassad and Adrian. This last one is doubtful due to a muscular injury and Lotina will decide until Saturday if the Asturian will be picked for the game against Getafe.

In order to complete the list of picked players, Lotina will call Juan Dominguez and Diego Seoane from Fabril, duo that was part of the starting eleven in the past home confrontation against Valladolid, and in this opportunity the Basque manager will have to at least pick one additional B player in order to cover the spots of Aranzubia and Lopo.

The main options are goalkeeper Marcos Valín, who will be the second keeper against Getafe, and probably central defender David Rochela, though Lotina could end choosing an attacking player if Adrián ends out of the clash, which invites to think that winger/striker David Añon could be picked too, he already debuted with the first team at Mallorca.

At Getafe, the main news is linked to the poor performance of the team during the clash with Real Madrid (2-4 loss). The defence is under fire as it allowed four goals within 37 minutes and to make things worse the main defender at the squad, ‘Cata’ Diaz, is out for a month due to muscular problem. Against Real Madrid coach Michel improvised with the couple Rafa-Mario Alvarez at the centre, and the outcome was terrible. Now, David Belenguer might return in order to clinch a spot.

And the difficulties don’t end there, because striker Roberto Soldado is also out due to a knee injury that could sideline him for the rest of the season. The ex-Real Madrid is the current Pichichi of the team, while winger Juan Ángel Albín still out of form and only played for eleven minutes against Real Madrid. At least left-back Miguel Torres is returning from suspension and should be part of the starting squad against Depor.
