Squad news

New victory for Depor B and now the squad opens a gap of five points with second place Cerceda. It wasn’t a brilliant presentation, but the defensive solidity was enough to secure the three points. Rochela and debutant Jose Manuel were the best players.

Coach Tito Ramallo was having nine casualties for the encounter; Karl, Chirri, Valencia and Vela were injured, while Cristian Valle and captain Dani were suspended. At the same time Juan Dominguez, Seoane and Marcos Valín were with the first squad for the match against Getafe (Valín was going to get injured one day later). For this reason the coach picked five players from Juvenil A team: keeper Edu, central defenders Anxo and Jose Manuel plus midfielders Juan Carlos and Richi

Ramallo used the 4-3-2-1 system implemented in the previous matches, but this time there were several novelties. Starting with José Manuel, who debuted with Depor B –the sixth Juvenil A player that does it on the season- performing at the right-back spot, Castillo and Diego Vieytes were the central defenders, Diego Rivas was the keeper, while Raúl was at the left side. David Rochela advanced his position and joined Richi and Héctor at midfield, while the two playmakers were Luis Ángel and David Añón. Finally, Joshua was the central attacker.

The rival was Pontevedra-based club Celtiga, team with the aim of trying to avoid the relegation and that arrived to Abegondo with the casualties of defenders José Manuel Cardeñosa and Oscar Blanco.

Fabril has regained its defensive solidity and it was demonstrated at A Illa de Arousa, Depor B was a solid team in defence and never allowed clear opportunities to the rival, with Rochela as the headstone at midfield and with José Manuel showing a refreshing image at the right side, he even joined the attacks of the team.

Basically, Fabril spent the first half defending and searching the goals through the counterattacks, which gave a lot of troubles to the locals. Celtiga had the first chance to score as Martín Pérez released a cross from the left that Fran Matos sent out. Immediately, Fabril responded with the first goal of the match, the scorer was Richi, who found a lost ball inside the area to beat José Antonio Ferro ‘Toño’ from close range.

David Añon could have sentenced the game before the pause, but he missed the target after a counterattack for the locals. Before half-time the locals could have equalised the game, but Iago Paz couldn’t find the net after a corner-kick.

During the second half the ball possession was for Fabril and the visitors had the best scoring opportunities, first during a one-on-one play of Joshua against Toño that the local keeper cleared out, then left-back Raúl Garcia scored the second goal as he collected a drilled pass of Luis Angel to cross Toño. It is his first goal with Depor B.

Fabril was now dominating the actions and having a comfortable advantage of two goals, then Ramallo allowed the first two substitutions as Hugo Garcia and Juan Carlos entered for Joshua and Riki. It seemed that Depor B was going to have a peaceful end, but eight minutes before the final whistle the referee allowed a penalty for the locals after Castillo pulled the shirt of Martín López.

Hugo Soto came and scored the lonely goal for the locals from the penalty spot, which gave some excitement to the final minutes of the encounter, moment when Ramallo allowed the entry of Momar Diagne replacing Luis Angel in order to secure midfield sector.

Not the best of the performances by Depor B as Ramallo’s squad only had four scoring attempts, but the defensive solidity shown throughout the encounter was enough to secure the three points. Rochela was the best player as he performed as a midfielder, while José Manuel was a pleasant surprise during his debuting game with the B team. The best news came later as Cerceda lost at home against Negreira (0-3), now Fabril has a five-point advantage over the second place and starts to smell the title with eight games remaining in the calendar. The team rests on this weekend and will visit 14th place Bergantiños on the next matchday.

Comments of Tito Ramallo, “The team was solid, serene, effective and it dominated the match. We never lost our scheme and never spent problems in defence, just within the final minutes with the 1-2 in the scoresheet, though neither it was too much. Besides, we hammered the rival with our counterattacks. In resume, I am content wit the work done by the players.”
