THINKING OF ZARAGOZA

29 Apr 2010
Depor no longer has any aspiration in la liga, but Zaragoza arrives to the Riazor looking at the relegation zone. And there’s a common thing between these teams: both have important casualties ahead of the clash.

Real Zaragoza visits the Riazor on Saturday (18h00 CET), for the Aragonians is a matter of life and death as they are only two points above relegation, while Depor is only playing for its prestige –as Lotina calls it- and to avoid a negative record of ten straight liga matches without a victory. Also, to mention that this game has been declared by the club as the “Peñas day “, which means special ticket prices for the Peña members of Depor.

As it has been normal throughout the second round of la liga, Lotina will have several casualties for the match. Angulo (knee) and Filipe (Fibula & ankle) are close to return, actually the Brazilian will make an exhibition at halftime, but their comeback is not expected before to matchday 37. Andrés Guardado (muscular) is already out of the present season and he even traveled to Mexico in order to accelerate his recovery and join his national team ahead of the World Cup.

The season has also ended for Adrián López ‘Piscu’, who broke his right clavicle during the game at Mestalla. Meanwhile, Juan Dominguez (ankle sprain) is almost discarded for the match against Zaragoza as he hasn’t trained within the last three weeks, while Portuguese Ze Castro hasn’t worked on this week due to tonsillitis

At least Albert Lopo (Thigh & Peroneal), Bodipo (biceps femoral) and Juca (muscular) are already working with the team, and Lotina even promised some minutes for the Brazilian midfielder. Meanwhile, Riki (adductor) and Pablo Álvarez (biceps femoral) didn’t complete Wednesday’s training, but both should be fit for Saturday’s game.

Real Zaragoza is also having several injury problems, coach José Aurelio Gay already lost his most dangerous attacker: Humberto Andrés Suazo, the Chilean is the Pichichi at the team with six goals, impressive mark taking in mind that he arrived during the winter window, but he will no longer play on this season after sustaining a shoulder problem (inferior glen humeral ligament) during the past game against Real Madrid.

Other three players out for injury reasons are defenders Carlos Diogo and Víctor Laguardia (both knee ligaments) plus winger Jermaine Pennant (Soleus). Meanwhile, Italian central defender Matteo Contini and Portuguese winger Eliseu will miss the clash at the Riazor due to suspension.

At least ex-Depor winger Angel Lafita (tendonitis) and Nigerian striker Ikechukwu Uche (muscular) are fit to play, while coach Gay still hoping to count with midfielder Gabriel Fernández 'Gabi' (hamstring) and ex-Depor striker Javier Arizmendi (knee adductor), both men have been training apart during the week, but doctors  expect to have them ready for Saturday’s game.

Due to the casualties at the centre of the defence, it has been reported that Aurelio Gay has tested a couple composed by Jiri Jarosik and ex-Depor Pablo Amo, while Adrián Colunga should be the replacement for Suazo, the ex-Recreativo attacker was the one that scored the goal in the 1-2 defeat against Real Madrid.
