Ze Castro and Guardado are the only Deporís players with the option to play in the upcoming FIFA World Cup; Filipe Luis wasnít picked in Brazil and Spain will remain without any representation from the Galician club.

It was already know that Andrťs Guardado was going to travel to South Africa as he was always considered as an important player in Mexico, actually two weeks ago he joined the concentration of the Mexican team although the official list that will travel to the event still to be released. He even already played in a couple of friendly matches, like this week 1-0 win over Senegal, match in which the Mexican winger played the final forty-five minutes.

Guardado was supposed to be out of the football pitch until the end of the month due to an injury sustained with Depor, but the evolution ha been positive and the player is even performing with Mexico, something already approved by the medical staff of Deportivo.

But what wasnít expected was to see Ze Castro having a real option to play in South Africa 2010, he was in the pre-list of coach Carlos Queiroz in Portugal, but nobody thought he will enter into the final list, because after been a normal starter on the past season with Depor, then he passed unnoticed as on the present campaign the central defender has only played in nine liga games (614 minutes).

Whatís true is that the final list of Queiroz has twenty-four names and the coach will only travel with twenty-three players to the World Cup, therefore a discard still to be made. The rumour is that the discard will be a central defender, and it seems that all will depend on Real Madridís Pepe, who was picked despite not been totally recovered from a serious knee injury. The coaching staff will study his evolution in the coming weeks, and if the Real Madridís defender is okay, then the discard could be Ze Castro.

No matter what, Zť Castro is pleased to see his name on the list, as he told to reporters, ďIt has been one of the best news in my sporting career, maybe the best one. The national team is third in the global ranking; there are great players and itís a great pride to be able to represent my country, because itís the highest thing for a football player. Football has good and bad thing, and in the end the best has came for me. It hasnít been a season with ups and downs, beyond that it has been a bad season for me.Ē

On Tuesday the bad news came for Filipe Luis as he wasnít included in the list of coach Dunga and Brazil, he already knew it was going to be difficult, but had a last hope. A hope that wasnít materialized as the Brazilian coach opted for other side defenders like Bastos (Olympique Lyon) or Gilberto (Cruzeiro).

Neither Spain will have a Deporís player in the World Cup (the second straight tournament that this happens); the disastrous second round of the team erased the small chances of players like Daniel Aranzubia and Albert Lopo. Coach Vicente Del Bosque revealed his pre-list during the week and no Deporís players were on it.

The same Aranzubia confessed on Wednesday that he never expected to have a chance, ďI never saw my name on the list, by far. Truly people have always talked good things of me, and even the coach said that I could have a chance in the future, but in Spain there are great goalkeepers and itís complicated. For me it was already a pride to know they were thinking of me.Ē
Finally, a couple of months ago it was said that Diego Colotto was saw as a possible candidate to Argentinaís national teal, but on Tuesday coach Diego Maradona revealed his pre-list of 30 players and Colotto wasnít on it. To mention that ex-Depor central defender Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle United) was on the list.
