DEFINING THE PRE-SEASON

03 Jun 2010
Deportivo already secured four friendly matches for the pre-season 2010/11; beyond that, the club already defined the plan that the team will follow until the start of la liga.

On the past pre-season Deportivo spent the summer playing friendly games in European countries like France and Denmark, there was the plan to complete a North American tour, but it was cancelled due to the H1N1 crisis in Mexico. Later it was said that the American tour was going to be postponed for July of the present year, but it won’t take place.

Because the club’s official have preferred to negotiate friendly matches in Europe; the first two are part of the Uhrencup 2010 and will be played in Switzerland (Yverdrom Les Bains). The first game of the pre-season will be against BSC Young Boys (July 20, 19h30 CET). Two days later Lotina’s team will have to play a second match in the same tournament against VfB Stuttgart y or FC Twente.

The third friendly will be against German club FC Union Berlin; this match will be played on July 25 (15h00 CET) at Stadion An der Alten Försterei (Berlin, Germany). Those three confrontations will take place in the same week and just two weeks after the start of the training camp (July 8).

After the game in Berlin, Deportivo will return to Abegondo and will spend one week of trainings; then it was expected a stage in England beginning on July 31, but in the end the plan was reduced to just one match. The club was negotiating with Tottenham Hotspurs a possible friendly for August 7, but later it was announced that the rival will be West Ham (August 7, Upton Park, 15h00 CET). The club will travel to England on August 6 and will return to Spain on August 8.

Between August 11 & 14 the club is organizing the Teresa Herrera, then the team will have two more weeks before the start of la liga 2010/11; probably one or two more games will be programmed for this last part of the pre-season, but for now nothing has been closed.
