In a surprising move, Deportivo announced the signing of left winger Yves Desmarets; the French can also perform as a pivote, left-back defender and even striker. He is arriving for free and signs for one year with the option of playing an additional season.

While the media was talking of Carlos Vela and Giovani Dos Santos Deportivo was closing the incorporation of Yves Hadley Desmarets (born July 19th, 1979). He’s French with Haitian ancestors. The winger is a multifunctional player that can also perform as a pivote, left-back defender and as a striker.

The move was never anticipated by the media and was announced by Depor Sport on its Wednesday’s issue. Later the club announced that the player already arrived to La Coruña and that he will pass the medicals on Thursday. He is coming for free and is signing for one season, with the option of extending the deal for an additional year.

The truth is that Desmarets has spent his career at the lower leagues of France; he started to play football as a professional in 1998 and spent the next eight years performing for Villiers-le-Bel, Sarcelles, Garges-lès-Gonesse, Saint-Denis, Les Lilas, AS Poissy and Red Star SO. It was until 2006 that he reached a Primera team as he joined Portuguese side Vitoria SC, club where he played the UEFA Cup and the preliminary round of the Champions League.

With Vitoria, Desmarets played 107 matches scoring 10 goals, since his arrival he became a normal starter at the Portuguese side and his contract was ending in June 30, reason why he was linked with a move to different European clubs like Fulham, PSG, Auxerre and Schalke. In this way Desmarets became into the third incorporation for the season 2010/11 after Michel and Saul, this last one isn’t official yet.
