Despite the season is over, the work at Abegondo with the injured players has continued, more precisely the recovery process of central defender Piscu and midfielder Juan Dominguez. Both should be fine for the pre-season.

The season that has just ended meant a real headache for Deportivo in terms of the injury cases that have struck the squad. The liga campaign ended with three players at the injury room: Pablo Alvarez, Juan Dominguez (both ankle sprain) and Adrian Lopez ‘Piscu’ (shoulder).

The first is already recovered and went on vacations without any problem, while the other two have stayed working at Abegondo in order to be physically fit as soon as possible. Piscu broke his shoulder during the visit to Valencia FC (April 24) and on Monday was examined by doctor Carlos Arriaza, he passed the test and received the medical Okay.

Now, the central defender will go on vacations though it isn’t know yet if he will return to Abegondo, because his contract is ending in June 30 and the Galician player hasn’t accepted yet the renewal offer presented by the club.

Meanwhile, Juan Dominguez has been struggling with an ankle sprain since March 28, day in which he received a tough tackle in the home game with Getafe, since then the midfielder only took part in one of the last nine liga matchdays as he suffered two relapses. It has been a long recovery process, because the healing of the ankle was complicated.

But on Thursday doctor Arriaza confirmed that the Galician midfielder is finally recovered and that he will be able to take part of the pre-season stage. Finally, Lassad Nouioui returned to La Coruña and already started to work at Abegondo. The intention of the doctors is to strengthen his hamstring muscles; that’s why he is starting the pre-season stage before anybody else. On the past season the Tunisian attacker just took part in the half of the 38 liga matchdays, so it can be said that he missed half of the campaign for his constant muscular problems.

After Friday’s training, the striker talked to reporters and said that “This time it is going to be different, the intention is to do a great pre-season in order to be a t the top during the full year. In this way I want to demonstrate to Lotina that he can trust in me.”
