Right now Lotina has thirty players ahead of the Primera season, which means that the Basque coach at least has to discard two men, and it seems that the main candidates for it are Piscu, Iván Pérez, Rodolfo Bodipo and Ruben Castro.

The signing of Urreta has raised the number of players at the first squad to thirty men, five more to the maximum allowed by la liga for the Primera season. And even one or two more signings are expected, though it will also depend on the possible departures. Therefore the new mission of coach Miguel Angel Lotina is to focus his efforts on the discards that will leave the team.

So far left-back defender Brayan Angulo, midfielder Jairo and striker Mista have left Deportivo’s squad, and at least two more names should join the list in the coming weeks. The following is an analysis of the current situation at every line of the team.

The only line that won’t change for the season 2010/11; because Daniel Aranzubia; and Manu will continue covering the position. The third goalkeeper will come out from Fabril and will train with the first squad, Marcos Valín is currently injured, so the job at the beginning should be for Diego Rivas or Edu Sosa.

One of the lines where the competition is more though; and it’s that Lotina has six central defenders: Lopo, Colotto, Ze Castro, Piscu, Aythami, who is returning from Xérez, and Rochela, who is the only Fabril player with a spot secured at the first team, at least for the pre-season stage. Of this list one man will leave, the Basque coach has opened the door for the loan of Piscu, but Ze Castro could also be transferred to Portugal.

Meanwhile, Aythami has an offer from recent promoted club Hercules, though Lotina has said to reporters that he counts with him and also with midfielder Alex Bergantiños, “They will stay with us, and I can tell you that both won’t be loaned out; that’s for sure.”

The situation at the sides is pending on Filipe Luis; Atletico Madrid still pushing to sign the Brazilian left-back defender, but Lendoiro isn’t convinced about their offer. Lotina has said that no more side defenders will be signed though the club is searching in the market in case something interesting could appears, this in order to cover the departure of Angulo. What seems clear is that the right side will stay the same with Manuel Pablo and Laure.

It’s the most reinforced line for the coming season; Desmarets and Urreta are coming to strengthen the left side, while Saúl will do the same on the right and Michel means a new alternative for the playmaking function. The arrival of the three new wingers invites to think that someone will leave, all appoints that Iván Pérez could be loaned out, but the exit of Pablo Alvarez can’t be discarded, while Lotina has said that the exit of Guardado won’t probably happen on this summer.

At the centre things are also uncertain, Sergio is every day more out of Deportivo, Juan Rodriguez will finally return to the centre of the pitch after been performing as a winger, while there’s a big competence between Juca, Antonio Tomás and Juan Dominguez for the other pivote spot. Alex Bergantiños was supposed to spend another year loaned, but the words of Lotina invites to think that he could stay.  Finally, Valerón and Michel will compete for the playmaker’s role.

After the goalkeeping position it seems to be the line where the things are more clear; Mista is already gone, and Lotina only counts with Adrián, Lassad and Riki. Currently the club is trying to find a destiny for Bodipo, while Ruben Castro will also leave, the Canarian is living his last year of contract and doesn’t count for the coach although he scored fourteen goals with Rayo Vallecano on the Segunda season that has just ended. Despite things seem clear the club could end signing a fourth striker, because Depor is alert in case something interesting appears in the market, at least it’s what Lotina told to reporters, "If something sweet comes out, we will go for it, but let's say we're not obsessed on it”.
