Portuguese Ze Castro gave an interview to website Eldepor.com; the central defender talked of his possible exit from Deportivo, the new signings and also about the World Cup.

Q: How do you rate your season? What about the team?
A: It wasn’t a positive season for me. I had some physical problems that prevented me from repeating the things made on last season. I prefer not to qualify it from 0 to 10. Ditto on the team, which made a great first round to end broken in the second, and that was a disappointing. But in terms of attitude and will we always fulfilled the job.

Q: What do you think of the new signings (Michel, Desmarets, André and Urreta)?
A: Michel: From what I know; I think he’s an interesting signing. It comes from a club with a good youth system and has a good technical quality, so he can be a good reinforcement for the club.
Desmarets: I know him from Guimarães; he’s good with the left foot and played in several positions. It may be useful.
Andre: It's a promise made at FC Porto and has potential; he’s a good midfielder.
Urreta: Outstanding for his speed, he’s a very agile player, creative. I think it was a very good signing.

Q: Speaking of signings. There is the rumour of a possible exit. Would you like to stay at Depor?
A: I have contract with Deportivo until 2013 and a buyout clause that’s already defined. If a proposal comes, we'll see if it means an interesting challenge for me and if it offers good conditions for the club. But I have a commitment to Deportivo and I concentrate myself on it.

Q: Are you sad, disappointed ... for not going to the World Cup?
A: Any person would be sad, but things are like this. The coach had to discard someone. The most important thing is the national team. It was a privilege to have been picked and I am sure I will return.

Q: What countries are the favourites?
A: The usual candidates, but this World Cup has some surprises. Let's see. Argentina, Spain, Brazil… those are the candidates. But Portugal also has some things to say. The World Cup is a tournament where anything can happen and I have confidence that Portugal will meet the required standard.

Q: But who will win; Portugal or Spain?
A: It will be a great game, if it happens. It’s impossible to determine a favourite, because both teams have great individual talent and a great collective spirit.
