The arrivals of Desmarets and Urreta invite to think that Iván Pérez doesn’t have a room anymore at Deportivo, but the player affirms that he’s ready to fight for a spot at Lotina’s team.

Last season Iván Pérez Maceiras achieved the goal of his life as he got a spot at Deportivo’s first team after convincing coach Lotina during the pre-season, now he has a new challenge: to retain his place and consolidate himself after his first minutes at Primera División. And it won’t be an easy task, because the arrivals of Yves Desmarets and Jonathan Urreta means a big challenge for this ex-Laracha player.

On the past season he had a decent number of minutes at Primera División (707 in 20 games); now his spot is at stake and it has been rumoured that the intention of Lotina is to loan him out, but for the moment the will of the winger/playmaker is to stay at Deportivo.

As his agent and former player of Depor, Peio Uralde, explained to newspaper La Voz de Galicia, “Our idea is to see him starting the pre-season at Depor. If later something interesting for us and the club appear we will study it, but for the moment he’s convinced that he has a spot at Deportivo. Another thing is that he starts the pre-season without that spot. But for the moment we aren’t offering him to other clubs”

And it’s that Lotina had a personal conversation with Iván Pérez before the end of the past season, in that meeting the coach told him that a loan was among the possibilities on his future, but the players refuses to leave; as he told to Sportpaper AS, “I am not counting in been loaned out; I have the same idea than the past year, which is to fight for a spot. I will give everything since minute one.”

"I feel encouraged knowing that there’s competition inside the squad to prove to myself that I can play at Deportivo; last year I finished much better than I started. My game has evolved, particularly in having more calm and the knowledge to be on the pitch. A loan is a possibility that the coach mentioned, but I'm convinced that I can give more.”
