Juan Dominguez became into the third injury case that strikes Deportivo during the pre-season stage; it’s just a continuation of the same problems had during the past season.

On Thursday midfielder Juan Dominguez suffered an adductor injury (right thigh) during the first training session held in Switzerland; the first scans have determined that he sustained a grade one muscular injury, which means that he will be out of action for at least one week, for this reason the Galician youngster will miss the clashes against FC Twente on Friday and Union Berlin on Sunday.

It’s the third injury case that strikes the team since the start of the pre-season two weeks ago, the first two cases were Aranzubia (shoulder), who is carrying his problem from the past campaign, and Juca (thigh), who suffered his injury on Saturday. The situation is awakening the ‘demons’ from the past season as 22 of the 25 players at the first team sustained at least one injury case throughout the campaign.

At the end of the season 2009/10 the club had reported 83 injury cases, though only 24 were serious injuries that forced the players to miss at least one liga matchday. The player that suffered more cases was Zé Castro with ten, while the three men that never had a problem were midfielder Valerón, defender Colotto and keeper Manu

For the present pre-season stage the doctors and physiotherapists at the club decided to change the training methods, which included to alternate the strength and physical trainings with tactical sessions, which was understood as one way to avoid new injury cases, though for the moments more cases are appearing the coaching staff will not change anything as they think these cases can be considered as “normal”.
