The so expected debut in liga is around the corner; on Wednesday Lotina started to prepare the first match of the season knowing that he will have the casualties of Aranzubia and Juan Dominguez, while Zaragoza will arrive without Lafita.

On Wednesday, Deportivo started to prepare the debut in liga; coach Miguel Angel Lotina already knows that he will miss Juan Dominguez and Daniel Aranzubia for Sunday’s match against Zaragoza (Riazor, 17h00 CET). The midfielder has a tear in a muscle of his right thigh, injury that was sustained on Friday when he was shooting on target during a training session in Rome. The doctors expect that he will be out of action between four and six weeks, meaning that he will not only miss the debut, but also the first month of la liga competition.

Meanwhile, the coaching staff was hoping that keeper Daniel Aranzubia  was going to be fit during this week after missing the whole pre-season due to a shoulder problem, but in the end the Basque man isn’t ready yet, which means that Manu will be the starting keeper against Los Maños, something that was confirmed by Lotina during his press conference. Manuel Pablo is the big doubt for the match as he still struggling from the thigh problem suffered before the game against Olympiacos.

At least the other players that were in doubt are evolving positively from their injuries, Depor’s last Pichichi Riki is already training and recovered from the harsh foul suffered against SS Lazio, while striker Lassad Nouioui and right winger Jonathan Urreta are also working with the team, both players have been struggling with muscular injuries and missed the latest trip to Greece and Italy. Riki should be a starter on Sunday, but the chances of the other two are uncertain at this point

For the moment the only new signings that seem to have the chance to play as starters on Sunday’s game are playmaker Michel and right winger Saul Fernandez, while the main doubt if who will play at the left-back position. Lotina still has to decide if he will count with new arrivals Olav Rindarøy and Claudio Morel, or if instead he will trust in Diego Seoane, the Fabril’s youngster that played on that position against Olympiacos and Lazio. It‘s expected that Raul Garcia and Stopira will stay at Fabril for the debut at Segunda B.

At Zaragoza, the attention is focused in the arrival of a new striker. The Aragonians will miss Ikechukwu Uche for the whole first round in liga due to a knee injury, and already saw the departure of Arizmendi, Colunga and Suazo during the summer window, so they urgently need a goal-scorer.

The media in Aragon has been speculating that the club was negotiating with Juventus FC the loan of French veteran David Trezeguet, while other sources claimed that the chosen one will be Fernando Cavenaghi from FC Girondins de Bordeaux. Other names linked with the club are Rosenberg (Werder Bremen), Jó Alves and Roque Santa Cruz (both Manchester City).  No matter who will be the selected choice, the true is that coach Jose Aurelio Gay will have to use Colombian Marco Jhonnier Pérez in the attacking line, the 19-year-old attacker arrived during the past month loaned from Argentine club Gimnasia y Esgrima.

Ex-Depor Angel Lafita will miss the game at the Riazor due to a knee problem (tendonitis), he has only played a friendly game during this pre-season, it was against Alavés (July 24). One of the doubts in the lineup is who is going to be the starting keeper, Leo Franco and Toni Doblas are fighting for the spot and all appoints that the ex-Atletico keeper will be the chosen one. For the moment the newspapers in Aragon speculates that Aurelio Gay will present a 4-2-3-1 formation at the Riazor: Leo Franco - Diogo, Jarosik, Contini, Obradovic - Gabi, Ponzio - Jorge López, Ánder, Bertolo - Marco Pérez.
