Lotina has doubts on Guardado and on who should be the starting striker against Sevilla, there’s also the chance to see a change at midfield. Meanwhile, Sevilla is losing central defender Fazio for injury reasons.

On Sunday Deportivo visits Sevilla FC at the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium (21h00 CET), coach Miguel Angel Lotina is preparing the encounter since Tuesday and already knows that he will miss two players: Juan Dominguez (thigh) and Daniel Aranzubia (shoulder).

Dominguez will be back until October, but Aranzubia was completing his first training session of the season during Wednesday’s morning, however Lotina told to reporters that the Basque man should wait at least one more week in order to play, "Clearly the injury of Aranzubia is already healed, but he hasn't played during the whole summer, so the highest thing would be to see him on the bench."

This means that Manu will be the starting keeper against the Andalusians, while no changes are expected for the defensive sector. Manuel Pablo should be repeating at the right side, Claudio Morel will continue on the left and the central defenders will be Lopo and Colotto. For the moment the doubt at defence is Ze Castro, who still hasn´t surpassed the thigh problem suffered on the past week.

The first novelty could appear at midfield, Juan Rodriguez and Antonio Tomas were the starting pivotes against Zaragoza, but on Wednesday Lotina was testing with Brazilian Juca taking the place of Tomas. The Basque coach should also wait to meet the state of Ruben Pérez, who was concentrated with Spain’s U-21 team for the matches against The Netherlands and Poland, but the Ecija-born midfielder should be fine as he only played 45 minutes with the national team.

More clear seems to be the situation at the right wing and at the playmaking function, Lotina is testing with Jonathan Urreta and Michel, this last one is already recovered from the knee problem suffered against Zaragoza. Saul was also tested on the right flank, but the most probable thing is to see the Uruguayan covering again the position after his solid performance in the opening matchday.

The two positions where Lotina has bigger doubts are the left wing and the striker’s role; Andrés Guardado is the main choice for the left, but the Mexican will join the team until Friday after an exhausting trip from North America, effort that included to play 90 minutes with Mexico in the match against Ecuador (Saturday), and 63 against Colombia (Tuesday).

For the striker’s position, Lotina has tested with Lassad and Riki, the Tunisian is already fit to play and in the trainings it wasn’t clear who could be the starter. Adrian also has his options as the Asturian attacker was the starter against Zaragoza, also to mention that he just played 30 minutes with the U-21 squad and joins the team for Friday’s sessions, so he doesn’t need to rest.

At Sevilla, coach Antonio Álvarez already knows that he will miss central defender Federico Fazio, the Argentine fell injured on Monday as he suffered an ankle sprain that will sideline him from Sunday’s game and also from the Europa League debut against PSG. The coach also has to wait to meet the fitness of Jesús Navas, Cigarini, Capel, Zokora and Romaric, the international players that will join the team within the next two days.

At least Álvarez has no problems with his trio in attack: Kanouté, Luis Fabiano and Alvaro Negredo, trio that will be the main threat to Deportivo as they usually score against the Galicians. Finally, Sevilla played on Wednesday a friendly match against Tercera club Conil CF; it was an encounter to inaugurate the new pitch at the Pérez Ureba stadium. The final result was 4-1 for Sevilla, with goals scored by Perotti, Lautaro Acosta, Negredo and Rodrigo Ríos ‘Rodri’. The match was also used to allow the debut of Martin Caceres and Alexis Sanchez, the last two signings made by the team during the summer window.
