Lotina already decided half of the squad that will play at the Sánchez Pizjuan stadium, but hasn’t chosen yet the attacking line. The only clear thing up front is that Michel will be the playmaker.

Friday’s training started with a video session for the players, instance that coach Miguel Angel Lotina uses in order to polish the defects from the squad and in this occasion to prepare the strategy against Sevilla. After it the Basque man worked on the pitch with his players and tested the same defensive line that played in the previous game against Real Zaragoza.

This means with Asturian keeper Manu at the goal, Canarian Manuel Pablo covering the right-back position, Paraguayan Claudio Morel on the left sector and the usual combination for the centre, with Catalan Albert Lopo and Argentine Diego Colotto.

Lotina already clarified that he will keep using a 4-2-3-1 system, and for the game at the Sánchez Pizjuan is pretty clear that the intentions of the coach are to use to same couple of pivotes that played at the Riazor a fortnight ago: Cantabrian Antonio Tomás and Andalusian Juan Rodriguez.

This combination has been questioned by the fans and also by part of the media as in the previous match with Zaragoza the team lacked more mark and ideas at midfield territory. However, the coach still trusting them, this no matter that Brazilian Juca and Andalusian Ruben Perez are fit to play, actually on Friday both players appeared at Depor Sport saying that they are wishing to debut on the season.

And the doubts start at that point, on Friday Lotina only tested some defensive movements with Valencian Michel, who will clearly be the playmaker in the formation that will face Sevilla. But the coach didn’t test any offensive strategy, and therefore it wasn’t possible to realize what his plans are for the positions of right winger, left winger and central attacker.

Mexican Andres Guardado joined the team on Friday after the long trip from North America, and it isn’t clear if the coach will allow his presence as starter, or if instead will trust in French Yves Desmarets or to even switch Uruguayan Jonathan Urreta to the left.

Asturian winger Saul Fernandez also has chances of been a starter at the right flank, while the position of central attacker is disputed between Tunisian Lassad Nouioui, Asturian Adrian and Madrilenian Riki. The doubts will be clarified on Saturday’s morning as the team will have the last training session before traveling to Andalusia.
