Second meeting between Juan Carlos Garrido and Lotina; Depor’s coach was confirming that he will make rotations at El Madrigal, while the opposite was occurring with Villarreal’s manager.

Juan Carlos Garrido Fernández is a Valencian coach that has been linked with Villarreal since the year 2002; he started his career coaching the club from his hometown, El Puig CF (1992-98), then he moved to CD Onda for the 1998/99 campaign. In 2002 he joined Villarreal in order to replace Juan Carlos Oliva at the B squad; Garrido had good results and was able to keep the team at Tercera División.

After a small pause, he returned in 2004 and just four years later Villarreal B was clinching the Promotion to Segunda. On the past season his team was doing a great job, living at mid-table and without facing problems to achieve the permanence. Then Ernesto Valverde was fired in January of 2010 and the name of Garrido came out as the main alternative to take the job at the first team. He was hired on February 1st and Villarreal had a decent performance in the league, though without ending among the top six places. Garrido was confirmed as the head coach for the present season and this is his second meeting against Miguel Angel Lotina after last season’s victory at El Madrigal (1-0).

A curios stat of Lotina is that he has visited the Madrigal in ten occasions with five different teams: Osasuna, Celta, Espanyol, Real Sociedad and Deportivo, and so far he has never won there as the Basque man was only able to clinch two draws (1-1 with Celta and Real Sociedad).

Depor’s coach talked on Wednesday, just before the trip to Vila-real; he was confirming the rotations for this liga encounter, “We have tired people, something that’s logical after the busy calendar, and we should remember that we will play on Sunday again. So, the logical thing is to witness changes in all the lines, though I don’t know how many. We will see tomorrow, before I want to talk to the players. Doctors have told me that our players are asking for some rest, so we will bring fresh air, though haven’t decided yet how many changes.”

Later he was explaining some decisions at the moment of making the list for the game, “Aythami was part of the list in recent games, now Ze (Castro) is more focused and has been training well. About Valerón, there’s nothing new, other men have been playing over there, and it doesn’t mean that h can’t play at anytime. Lassad is now better performing as a playmaker than as a striker, and Dioni is more like a central forward, so that’s the reason why he is not traveling.”

The Basque man was also giving his opinion on the situation lived by Michel, “I think that’s better to have a player at 100% for less games than to have him for more matches and having physical problems. He already had three injuries, and curiously all the problems were at the Riazor, and the common sense says that the doctors must now look to what’s happening there. We can’t allow seeing him going out injured each time that he plays.”

Finally, Lotina gave his opinion on the rival, “Villarreal is now the same team of Pellegrini, with that playing style, that vision on the pitch; they are fast and possesses quality. It has changed a little, last year they were playing more on the wings, now the wingers and the two strikers play more towards the centre. It’s different to Sevilla, though it’s a similar formation. Sevilla has two references on the wings as Navas and Perroti, while the ones of Villarreal, Borja and Cazorla, are different. We must do the right things, and we already know what we need to do in order to win.”

Villarreal’s coach gave a press conference on Tuesday, this since he was presenting his personal website to reporters; he used the occasion in order to talk of the match against Depor, the main thing is that he confirmed the same starting eleven that faced Levante, “When you have too many competitions it is difficult to have continuity, but on this occasion our idea is to follow the same direction. To bring continuity is something that will help to the coordination of the players. We just need to support the players in order to see them reaching the top of their level.”

"We have a high level of demand with ourselves and we must keep playing at the same height. If we were to make a balance on this start of the season, then I think it would be good, because we passed the previous round in the Europa League and in liga we had two victories in three games. Things are going on the right direction." He added.

About Deportivo, Garrido emphasized the solid performance in defence of the Galicians, “"Deportivo works very well on defense and that’s their stronger point. Yesterday, for example, they came back in the game against Getafe and did it pretty well, including the offensive aspect. All their attacking players are great footballers. I don’t like to point out to one single man, because in the end the whole team is the one that clinches the victories."
