TESTING THE SQUAD FOR THE BERNABÉU

02 Oct 2010
Lotina already tested a lineup for the visit to Real Madrid, the main novelty was to see Fabril’s Dioni as the central attacker, while Antonio Tomás was returning to midfield and Ze Castro to the centre of the defence.

The game at the Santiago Bernabéu could meant the debut of Dionisio Emanuel Villalba ‘Dioni’ as starter; the Andalusian striker arrived to Fabril during the summer and soon he gained the confidence of everyone. He played with the first team during the pre-season and already played twice in la liga as a substitute.

Now, Dioni could be making his debut as Deportivo is living a complicate moment and facing one of the favourite teams in the competition. The lineup tested by the coach during the training means four changes compared to the squad that lost against Almeria, starting with the presence of Ze Castro at the centre of the defence replacing suspended Diego Colotto

It will be the debut of the Portuguese as a starter on this season, though he played forty-five minutes in the past match with Almeria. The other novelty at defence is the return of Paraguayan Claudio Morel replacing Rindarřy at the left-back position. The rest of the defence should be the same one of the last game at the Riazor, with Manu at the goal, Manuel Pablo on the right and Albert Lopo at the centre. However, Manuel Pablo is still having tonsillitis and may be replaced by Laure.

One of the positions that’s giving problems to Lotina is the role of pivote, so far the coach is only satisfied with the job done by Ruben Perez. Against Villarreal the Basque man tested a triple pivote figure with Juca and Juan Rodriguez, and against Almeria he only played with the ex-Malaga as the partner of Ruben, and now Antonio Tomás has been tested in that role, it is the same combination used in the 2-2 game with Getafe.

Yves Desmarets will probably stay at the right wing, the Frenchman was playing there against Almeria and his substitution at minute 33 provoked the protest of the Riazor, now he will have another opportunity on that position. Meanwhile, Andres Guardado is playing on the left.

Maybe the biggest doubts are in attack; during the week Lotina defended the work of Adrian, but at the same time the Basque coach confessed that he would like to test with Lassad as the central attacker in the formation, but by Friday he was testing with the Tunisian keeping the role of playmaker and with Dioni as the central forward, so anything can happen on these positions.
