SEARCHING FOR THE GOALS

08 Oct 2010
The last training sessions have been used to practice the crosses into the area and the capacity to shot on target, and it’s that Depor needs goals in order to achieve the first victory on the season.

Six matchdays have been played in la liga and Deportivo still searching for its first victory of the season; the key is to find first the goals, because the Galicians are the worst scorer at Primera División with only three goals in favour after completing 80 shots on target, and to remember that two of those goals were scored from the penalty spot.

Actually, there are teams in a better situation that haven’t needed too many shots on target to score the goals; that are the cases of Malaga (73 shots, 12 goals), Atlético Madrid (61 shots, 10 goals), Hércules (50 shots, 5 goals) or Levante (48 shots, 5 goals).

That’s why Lotina has focused the work during the last trainings in basic things of offensive football, like the combinations in attack, crosses into the area and shots on target. On Wednesday the squad spent twenty minutes on it and the situation was repeated on Thursday. In this way it was possible to see Juan Rodriguez, Lopo and Antonio Tomás scoring goals from long-distance.

Curiously, there were no strikers from the first team on the sessions, because Lassad was concentrated with Tunisia and AdrianRindarøy is with Norway and Morel with Paraguay, reason why Lotina picked Dioni and Raul García from Fabril and also left-back defender Adrian from Juvenil A. Other Fabril players on the session were Añon, Dani, Chirri and Rochela.

It also called the attention the training match played at the Riazor on Wednesday; Lotina prepared two different squads, the lineup of the first one was: Manu - Laure, Colotto, Aythami, Raúl - Juan Rodríguez, Juan Dominguez - Saúl, Desmarets, Pablo Álvarez – Añón. While the second was: Aranzubia - Manuel Pablo, Lopo, Rochela, Adrián - Antonio Tomás, Dani - Chirri, Juca, Guardado – Dioni. The final score was 1-1, with a goal scored by David Añon and an own goal of Aythami.
