TWO STRIKERS WITHOUT GOAL

12 Oct 2010
One of Depor’s main problems is the lack of goals of its strikers; and it’s that together Lassad and Adrian accumulates 27 hours without scoring a goal in an official match. That’s the reason why the club is already searching for a fourth striker in the market.

The drought of Depor’s strikers is reaching unsuspected heights; with Riki injured the only two available strikers for the clash against Osasuna are Adrian López and Lassad Nouioui; two strikers known for the talent and skills, but that aren’t materializing their virtues in goals.

And it’s that Lassad’s last goal in an official game occurred on November 1 of the past year, more in concrete against Sporting Gijón in la liga; since that day the Tunisian has played 765 minutes distributed in 18 liga encounters and has remained scoreless. He had a big opportunity to break the spell against Real Madrid, but wasn’t able to surpass Iker Casillas after been left one-on-one against the Madrilenian keeper.

Meanwhile, the last official goal of Adrián was scored on March 23, also against Sporting Gijón, but this time in the second round of the past liga campaign. However the drought of the Asturian striker is worse, because he has had more participation than Lassad throughout this year, and it’s that he accumulates 886 minutes without scoring a goal.

Together, both men present the disappointing mark of 1,651 minutes without scoring a goal, in other words 27 hours and 31 minutes. Neither Riki is living a good moment, he was the Pichichi on the last season, but his last goal was scored on May 8 against RCD Mallorca, although it’s also true that since then the Madrilenian has had a discrete participation with the team as he has only played 58 minutes distributed in two liga games.

SEARCHING FOR A FOURTH STRIKER
These problems with the goals have contributed to left Deportivo as the worst scorer at Primera División during the year 2010 with only nineteen goals scored in the period. That’s why the club is searching for a fourth striker since the summer window. Depor tried to close a signing in the last days of the market, but it wasn’t possible to find an alternative liked by Lotina at an accessible cost.

Now that Depor is the last place in liga the signings seems to be reactivated; and it’s that on the weekend Sportpaper Deporte Campeón wrote that the club already rejected the option of Mateja Kežman and that was focusing its efforts in Galician Jonathan Soriano (25), who played before for Racing and that’s now at Barcelona B, and also in Cantabrian Mario Bermejo Castanedo (32), who is searching for an exit at Xérez since May and that’s ending contract in June of 2011.

Meanwhile, newspaper La Opinión de Malaga wrote that Deportivo is chasing Nabil Baha (29), Moroccan attacker that has scored 24 goals with Malaga, but that has been discarded on this season by new coach Jesualdo Ferreira.

The most recent name linked with Depor is  Emanuele Giaccherini (25), the Italian attacker that belongs to AC Cesena has scored thirteen goals in sixty-one presentations in Calcio, though on this season he has only played once without scoring any goal. According to Italian website Tuttomercato, the Galicians offered two million Euros for him.
