Lotina has six injury cases ahead of the clash against Osasuna, and five of those six cases are occurring at midfield; the more delicate situation is occurring at the playmaking function as the two men for that spot are out injured.

Coach Miguel Angel Lotina was talking of a few changes in the lineup that will face Osasuna at the Riazor, but in the end the major part of the modifications will be more related to the injury problems than to the tactical necessities of the team after the poor start in la liga competition.

Tuesday’s visit of the Riazor Blues to Abegondo brought hope and inspiration to Lotina and his players, but not everything was positive in the day, because the Basque coach received some bad news; first that Andrés Guardado was suffering a hamstring injury in Mexico that could sideline him for ten days, and even some reports are talking of one month. More scans will be made on Friday and then the club will know the exact scope of the injury.

Later, on that same day, Lotina saw how Juca was falling down with a new muscular problem; the Brazilian already had similar problems on the past season and new scans will be made today, but it’s already known that he will miss the clash with Osasuna, and probably the visit to Real Sociedad.

These two new cases are joining the previous four that Deportivo had until last weekend (Riki, Valerón, Michel and Urreta); and the common thing is that five of the six injured men are midfielders. The most complicate thing is occurring at the playmaking function, because Lotina has lost his two playmakers in the formation: Michel and Valerón.

In past week, this situation has forced the coach to improvise with Lassad performing on that position, the absence of Riki is also suggesting that Adrian will return to the striker’s role after not been a starter against Real Madrid; the Asturian is returning after scoring twice with the U-21 squad. It could also open a gap for Fabril’s Dioni, though Depor B is facing the derby with Celta B on Sunday.

Guardado’s injury will also force Lotina to make changes at the left wing; without the Mexican the spot will probably be for Yves Desmarets, while Saul Fernandez has big chances to cover the right as Urreta still in Uruguay. At least the coach is recovering Pablo Alvarez and Juan Dominguez, two alternatives that haven’t debuted yet on the season –the only field players without minutes in liga-

The only sector that hasn’t been affected by the injuries is the defence; Lotina only needs to check the fitness of Knut Rindarøy and Claudio Morel, the two left-backs of the team that are returning from international action. Also to remember that the coach already announced that Dani Aranzubia will be the starting keeper for the first time on the season.
