Antonio Tomás is almost discarded for the trip to Anoeta, while Riki and Valerón are ready to play. Also, Real Sociedad is losing Raúl Tamudo for the match.

New injury case at Deportivo; on Thursday Antonio Tomás suffered a muscular injury during the training session, the first scans  determined that the problem occurred on the quadriceps muscle of his right thigh, new scans will be made on Friday, but all appoints that he will miss the visit to Anoeta and also the Copa clash with Osasuna, this since the team won’t return to La Coruña after the liga match, instead it will fly to the town of Haro (La Rioja) in order to prepare the Copa match.

Antonio Tomas was a starter in the past liga game with the Navarrans, and now he is joining Brazilian Juca (muscular) as the other pivote that will miss the match in San Sebastián. It means that Lotina only has three men available for those positions: Juan Rodriguez, Ruben Perez and Juan Dominguez, which could lead the coach to pick a player from Deportivo B for the trip.

It shouldn’t be surprising to see Lotina calling Fabril’s players for the game in Anoeta, because it will be the same trip that later will travel to Pamplona for the Copa game with Osasuna, therefore the list of picked players will at least be composed by twenty men and it must be reminded that the Copa matches are frequently used to give minutes to the “bench players” and to the kids at Fabril.

The other two confirmed casualties for the game are Andres Guardado (hamstring strain) and Michel (knee), while Fabril’s striker Dioni is also carrying with a muscular problem. Also, Jonathan Urreta is doubtful with a muscular problem, the Uruguayan winger hasn’t trained yet during this week.

Claudio Morel will return from Paraguay until Saturday and it isn’t know if he will arrive in time for the match; the side defender is resolving a visa problem in his home country. At least striker Riki and playmaker Juan Carlos Valerón (both thigh) are ready to return, the duo missed the last three liga matches, but now they are fit to play.

Lotina said on Wednesday that he was thinking in repeating the same starting eleven that faced Osasuna, with the exception of suspended Albert Lopo, who is going to be replaced by Portuguese Ze Castro. Now the casualty of Antonio Tomás will force him to make at least one more change. It could mean to see Juan Rodriguez moving his position from the right wing to the centre allowing the entry of Saúl Fernandez into the formation, or instead it could mean the debut of Juan Dominguez, the only player at the first team that hasn’t debuted yet in this liga season.

During the trainings Lotina has tested two strategies to face the game in Anoeta, the first one is to use the same direct game witnessed against Osasuna, which is the more obvious strategy as Depor will be the visitor and therefore could have the needed spaces to release long throws searching for the counterattacks, while the second strategy is the same combinative game based in short passes that the team practiced within the first matches in liga.

At Real Sociedad, the novelties are the casualties of midfielder Francisco Sutil (ankle) and striker Raúl Tamudo (ulna fracture). The absence of Tamudo is painful for the Basque team, because the ex-Espanyol striker has scored three of the six goals of Real Sociedad on the liga season.

It will be a special match for the coaches, because Lotina is returning to the city in which he suffered his only relegation at Primera División, while the rival has a familiar face on the bench: Martin Lasarte. The Uruguayan was part of the Depor’s squad that was returning to Primera División during the season 1991-92 and he even was the captain of the team.
