REVIEW: CACEREÑO 1 – FABRIL 1 (SEGUNDA B)

26 Nov 2010
Deportivo B continues with its progress; on this occasion it resisted the result in a pitch that was impossible. The true is that the team was also lucky as it could have ended defeated. Captain Dani was sent off.
BEFORE THE GAME
New long list of casualties for coach Tito Ramallo, he had three players picked by Lotina for the home match with Málaga, Dioni, Rochela and Seoane, while Joshua and Richi were still injured. The sixth casualty for the match was midfielder Héctor García, who was suspended after picking a fifth yellow card in the previous match.
In the end Ramallo had to pick central defender Uxio Marcos Nores and midfielder Fernando Beltrán from Juvenil A in order to complete the list for the game. The lineup was still the ‘typical’ 4-2-3-1. Diego Rivas was at the goal, Fran González covered the right-back spot, Raúl Garcia performed at the left side and the central defenders were Vieytes and Ínsua. Fernando Beltrán was debuting as starter as he covered the spot of Héctor playing at the side of Dani; Chirri was the right winger, Añon played on the left, Juan Carlos was the playmaker in the formation and Jona was the central attacker.
The rival was Club Polideportivo Cacereño, club from Extremadura that spent the major part of its almost centenary history at Tercera División. The team had a slow start with only one victory in twelve matches, reason why former coach Manolo was fired three weeks ago. His substitute is José Luis Montes, a familiar face for Deportivo as he spent three seasons at the Galician club when it was playing at Segunda.
And the switch has been positive as he achieved two wins in two games, enough to leave the last place at the group, though the Verdiblanco team still in relegation. Another familiar face at the team is Mauricio Rey Moreno ‘Mauri’, a 31-year-old veteran striker that played for Fabril in the past. He is the top-scorer for Los Mangurrinos with three goals added to his tally.
THE MATCH
New positive result for a Deportivo B that had to fight against everything in order to clinch a point; first against a willing rival that‘s trying to leave the pit, then against the scoresheet as Fabril allowed an early goal and had to search for the equalizer for almost the entire match, and finally against a pitch that was more like a swamp rather than a football field.
And it’s that both teams had difficulties to pass the ball and the game turned to be a practice of long throws and direct game. Perhaps for that reason nothing special was sawn within the first twenty minutes, then the locals scored a goal from nowhere. It was a cross from the right after a corner-kick, Alberto Macías ‘Chapi’ found the ball at the box and tried to score from close range, but his attempt hit the back of Ínsua, and then Mauri appeared to score his fourth goal in liga sending the ball to the left of Diego Rivas
Since that point Cacereño took full control of the actions against a Deportivo B that was having problems to contain the attacks from the locals. A few minutes later striker Luis Miguel Gracia ´Luismi’ was close to score the second goal through a drilling shot that went close to the far post of Fabril’s keeper. Then Mauri had a new opportunity from inside the area, but his shot was saved by Diego Rivas.
Things were the same for the second part, Juan Carlos was trying, but seemed too alone at midfield, while Chirri was lost at the right wing, only Diego Añon was creating some danger on the left; actually he was the one that sent a cross that Vieytes headed over the crossbar (60’). Perhaps that’s why Ramallo decided to allow the entry of Stopira for Fernando, a move that was trying to put together the skills of the Galician winger with the velocity of the Cape Verdean defender. Later Ramallo also allowed the entry of Luis Angel for Chirri
The truth is that the main protagonist in the second half, beyond any player, was referee Yáñez Mejías. Cacereño reclaimed a penalty over Luismi that was never whistled, while later he invalidated a legal goal to Fabril. It was during a free-kick of Dani that ended in an assist to Stopira and then with a pass to Añon, who scored from close range, but the goal was disallowed for an offside of Stopira that never existed.
A few minutes later the same two players were the protagonists in the play of the equalizer; Stopira released a cross from the left, the ball went into the middle of defender Tomás and local keeper René Román Hinojo, but somehow David Añon got in the middle to pass the keeper, then the ball was cleared at the goal line by Gonzalo Llerena but, as it was saw on TV, the ball was already in, though the locals protested the play. It is the fourth goal in liga for Añon.
Four minutes before the goal, Vela was replacing Juan Carlos, but the winger didn’t have time to appear, actually the last five minutes were the most complicate moments for Depor B, first Dani was sent off with two yellow cards –his second red card on the season-, then Cacereño pushed hard and in the stoppage time the locals were close to score the winning goal after Diego Rivas couldn’t control the ball in a free-kick coming from midfield, the locals reclaimed two penalties in that play, the first for a hand that was actually the one of Diego Rivas, and later for a controversial foul over Rocha when he was against the goal.
In the end a positive result for a team that had to fight hard until the end; to mention that the locals were furious with the referee, even the delegate of Cacereño, Antonio Martínez Doblas, was pointed in the act of the game as the person who insulted the referee calling him a “scoundrel, blind, thief and son of a b…”
AFTER THE GAME
Maybe Deportivo didn’t deserve to pick up a point in this match, but football is a game that doesn’t know the meaning of the word justice. In the end a wise and quick David Añon earned a golden point for a Fabril that never gave up. Now Ramallo’s team accumulates three straight games without losing, although relegation is just three points under the Galicians. On Saturday the team faces another direct rival as UB Conquense visits Abegondo (17h00 CET).
Comments of Tito Ramallo:, “We must realize that it was a difficult game under special conditions, for both aspects the rival and the pitch, besides we weren’t fine in the first half and it was hard for us to get in into the game. With the disadvantage we were forced to practice a more direct game. In the end a point was for the locals, other for us and the other one was for the pitch.”
