ADRIAN: “WE MUST BE STRONG IN RIAZOR"

01 Dec 2010
The first defeat in a month has lowered the ascendant run of Deportivo in la liga; now striker Adrián appoints to the Riazor as the key place to keep adding points, starting with the next visit of newcomer Hércules FC.

Adrián López had the biggest opportunity for Deportivo during the past visit to Racing Santander; he hit the post at minute 11 and later, unfortunately for Depor, his attempt went into the path of local keeper Toño. In the end Lotina’s team ended scoreless and that was actually the only clear chance for the Galicians in the game.

The Asturian striker was remembering the play during an interview at newspaper La Opinión A Coruña, “Truly it was a great opportunity and the game could have changed if the ball would have entered. But it’s also true that we neither have other opportunities, maybe just that action in the second part of Pablo [Álvarez] when the ball was about to reach Desmarets [Toño blocked the attempt in the end].”

Adrián also pointed out that Deportivo had big problems to feel comfortable at El Sardinero, this due to the conditions of the pitch, “I believe that the bad game that we displayed had a lot to do with the field, because the state of the pitch affected the development of the game. Especially in the first part as they were playing better, for this reason we decided to play through long throws. But we improved in the second part and the goal came when we were playing better. It was difficult to play with the ball over the grass, that’s why we insisted in the aerial game.”

Now, the 22-year-striker is pointing out to the Riazor as the key to keep adding good results, ”The Riazor is the place where we must be stronger; it is fundamental. In recent matches we have done this and must wait to follow that line. Now it’s time to face Hercules, side that has signed a lot of people, but at our stadium we must demonstrate that we are fine.”

Finally, the Teverga-born striker was also remembering the Copa Del Rey, competition that will return at the end of the month as Depor will face Segunda club Córdoba FC, “Of course we are going out for it, because it is a competition that we all like. We will try to get as far as possible.”
