THINKING OF HERCULES

03 Dec 2010
Little by little Lotina is recovering his injured players; in this occasion the Basque coach has big doubts on the attacking line that should play against Hercules.

Coach Miguel Ángel Lotina has been happy during the week, because he is recovering players ahead of the last liga matches on the year. For the game against Hércules FC (Riazor, Monday 21h00 CET) he will only miss playmaker Michel (knee), defensive midfielder Juca (thigh), striker Riki (appendicitis) and left winger Andrés Guardado (hamstring).

There are even good news with these four men, because Michel is evolving and his return could take place sooner than it was expected (Lotina said that it could be in January); Juca is already training and the problem of Riki is just a normal precaution after a surgery. Guardado is closer to return; the Mexican is even fit to play on Monday, but the coach prefers to reserve him for the visit to Atletico Madrid.

On Wednesday left-back Knut Rindarøy and central defender Ze Castro skipped the session due to a virus, but the Portuguese was already fine by Thursday and the Norwegian will join the team on Friday. In the end the Basque coach has twenty-one men available for Monday’s match, which in the end is creating doubts about how to face the challenge.

And it’s that Lotina has admitted doubts in the composition of the attacking line against Hércules; Pablo Álvarez and Yves Desmarets had a disappointing performance against Racing Santander, and it could open the door for the return of Saúl Fernandez and Jonathan Urreta; the Asturian winger has been out of the starting eleven within the last two matches, while the Uruguayan played on Sunday his first minutes since September after sustaining an ankle sprain.

There’s even the chance to see Adrian performing as the playmaker towards the left, position that the ex-Oviedo has usually covered since the switch in the system. In that case the striker’s role will be for Lassad Nouioui or even for Fabril’s attacker Dionisio Emanuel Villalba ´Dioni’ as Lotina himself admitted it.

Another doubt is if Lotina will keep playing with Manuel Pablo and Diego Seoane at the sides; it has been commented that the Basque man is thinking in allowing the entry of Rindarøy on the left, which could sent Seoane back to Fabril, while another possibility is to switch the youngster to the right –his natural position- and put Manuel Pablo on the bench.  Anyhow, Lotina has said that he will make his final decision until the weekend as he wants to see all the training sessions of this week.

Meanwhile, Hércules is relaxed after achieving an important victory over UD Levante (3-1), result that has put them one point above Deportivo. The team coached by Esteban Vigo only has the doubt of Royston Drenthe, the Dutch has missed the last two games after suffering a couple of ulcers in the esophagus, however it’s expected that he will be fit to play at the Riazor.

But on this week the player that has been on the spotlight is David Trézéguet, the French striker is the Pichichi of the team and his seven goals in liga are calling the attention of Inter Milan, it has been mentioned that his agent is already negotiating his return to Italy for the next campaign.

And the former Juventus star clearly explained his intentions during an interview with ESPN Radio, “My goal is to keep playing in Europe, because this may be an important opportunity to try to achieve certain goals that I still missing. Now I'm on a team that, probably, is a less known club than Juventus, and my goal is to show myself and in this way, next year, I will be able to join a team with major ambitions. "
