IS ANTONIO TOMAS PUNISHED?

25 Dec 2010
The last two official games in the year focused all the attention of Deportivo, but an unresolved question that still in the air is the status of Antonio Tomas, who actually missed those matches. Lotina says that nothing happens.

It seems that the fight between Antonio Tomás and Jonathan Urreta, that took place on December 17, is already forgotten  by the media and by the fans, mainly because coach Lotina has been saying that nothing happens as he understands that it was a normal dispute that could happen in any training session.

But there are big doubts on the status of Antonio Tomás at Deportivo as he was discarded for the liga clash with Sporting Gijón and the Copa first-leg game against Córdoba CF; Lotina insists that it was just a ‘technical decision’, but in the last training before travelling to Córdoba the coach had a conversation with the midfielder, it was a long dialogue and later both men were asked on the issue and there was no answer.

About the current relation between Antonio and Urreta, it is a mystery, because the Uruguayan left the day after the fight in order to spend Christmas on his home country, and therefore both men haven’t been in the same place since the day of the incident.

It is a delicate moment for the Cantabrian midfielder; he ends his contract in June and this incident is just complicating his relationship with the coaching staff, besides it isn’t clear if he will have minutes in the coming weeks. Ruben Pérez and Juan Rodriguez are currently the starting choices, Juan Dominguez is beginning to count for Lotina and Juca is about to return in January.
