DEPORTIVO IN 2010

26 Dec 2010
2010 has been a pretty bad year for Deportivo, because the Galician club has struggled in la liga only winning 9 of the 39 liga matches disputed on the year. And it’s that Depor was the second worst Primera team on the period.

If 2009 was a good year as the club was the sixth best side at Primera División, now the year that’s ending has meant a step backwards for Deportivo. The Galicians disputed 46 official matches in the period -39 in la liga and 7 in Copa Del Rey- In la liga the results have been terrible: only nine wins, eleven draws and nineteen defeats.

Meanwhile, in Copa Del Rey the results were better as Lotina’s team clinched three wins, three draws and only suffered one defeat, though that setback meant the elimination on the past Copa tournament -0-3 against Sevilla at the Riazor-

The problem was that Deportivo lived a downward spiral within the final stretch of the past liga campaign, and that negative streak continued at the start of the season 2010/11 as the team struggled within the first nine matchdays of the competition.

Then main problem for the team was again related to the goals in favour, because Deportivo only scored twenty-nine goals in the thirty-nine games disputed in 2010, that’s the worst mark among the 17 clubs that played the full year at Primera División. In the end Deportivo had a mark of -23 in the goal difference of the year.

Making a liga table with the 17 clubs that played the full year at Primera División, it is possible to see that Barcelona and Real Madrid dominated the division at ease, while Deportivo was at the bottom of the table occupying the 16th place, just above Sporting Gijón and tied in point s with Malaga and Zaragoza, precisely those three clubs are the ones currently living inside the relegation zone.
