Lotina is losing Guardado and Riki, and has other six players in doubt for the clash at San Mamés, while Caparrós could end losing Fernando Llorente for the clash.

Deportivo is starting the year with the same problem of 2010: the injuries. Coach Miguel Angel Lotina already knows that he won’t count with winger Andrés Guardado and striker Riki, duo that’s out for the visit to Athletic Bilbao (Sunday, 16h00 CET) due to a grade one muscular injury. The Mexican was replaced in the first half against Sporting Gijón, and three days later Riki followed the same path as he was replaced at minute 30 of the Copa clash against Córdoba CF.

Besides these injuries there are other six minor cases after the team returned from vacations, starting with Jonathan Urreta, the Uruguayan winger hasn’t trained during the week due to illness (flu), while Antonio Tomás didn’t train on Thursday due to gastroenteritis, curiously this duo was involved in a fight two weeks ago and doesn’t speak to each other.

Other players that have had physical problems were Desmarets (gastroenteritis), Laure, Lassad (both ankle) and Rindarøy (thigh); all of them are doubtful for the trip to San Mamés.

It means logistic problems for Lotina, because it must be reminded that Depor has to face three matches within seven days; on Sunday the team visits Athletic Bilbao, three days later it hosts Córdoba CF for Copa Del Rey and the home game against Barcelona FC has been scheduled for next Saturday (22h00 CET)

The main problems, as always, are in attack, because Lotina only has one fit striker (Adrian), Lassad should be fit to play, but won’t be at 100% for Sunday. Besides, with Guardado discarded and with Urreta doubtful the coach is losing his two main wingers, leaving him only with the choices of Pablo Alvarez, Saul and Desmarets. In any case it’s pretty clear that Lotina will keep playing using the system of five defenders; so far the Basque coach hasn’t tested yet any draw at Abegondo, but today’s Lotina will surely make his first ‘experiments’.

Meanwhile, at Athletic Bilbao all the eyes are on Fernando Llorente, the top-scorer of the Basques -10 goals on the season- is doubtful after suffering muscular problem on his left hip during the liga match against UD Levante; the striker joined the trainings on Thursday and it isn’t sure yet if he will be fit to play on Sunday.

Llorente already missed the Copa clash against Barcelona FC, and for that occasion coach Joaquin Caparrós chose to play with Ander Iturraspe on his place. Besides this probable casualty, the ex-Depor manager has the doubt of central defender Mikel San José, who hasn’t trained during the week due to illness. At least other central defender at the team, Fernando Amorebieta, is now fit to play after surpassing an ankle sprain.
