THREE SIGNS IN 24 HOURS

31 Jan 2011
Deportivo confirmed on Sunday the signing of strikers Xisco and Jose Sand, and late on Sunday it also confirmed the arrival of a third reinforcement: right winger Javito. But for this two players must leave first, it seems the candidates are Urreta, Pablo Álvarez or Rindarøy.

José Sand is one of the three new players at Deportivo; on Sunday's evening the club announced that he and former Depor’s striker Xisco were going to pass the medicals on Monday. The Argentine arrived to La Coruña on Sunday’s evening and the arrival of the Majorcan attacker was expected for the first hours of Monday.

The signing of Sand seems the clearest one as on the day before it was reported a deal between Deportivo and his club Al Ain FC. The deal is a loan lasting until June of the present year and that will cost €500,000 to the Galicians. Depor will also have a buyout option for €3 million, which could be fulfilled during the summer, and if the option is not used, then Deportivo will be extra charged with another €500,000.

But the conditions of Xisco’s arrival are more uncertain; the sources in Galicia claim that it is a zero-cost transfer for Depor, while the papers in England are only informing of a loan operation. The doubts should be cleared during Monday after the club announces the results of the medicals.

The arrivals of Xisco and Sand are adding gunpowder to a Deportivo that was lacking goal, now coach Miguel Ángel Lotina has five strikers at his team: the two newest signings plus Riki, Adrian and Lassad.

And late on Sunday, the club also confirmed the signing of right winger Javier Peral Periane ‘Javito’ (27, Aris Thessaloniki FC). As it happens in the case of Xisco, there are no details in the terms of the operation, though it seems it's a loan deal.

The three signings are also raising the number of players at the first team to 27 (27 plus Juan Dominguez, who is inscribed as a B player). It means that in order to inscribe the three players in la liga the club must first allow two exits.

Of course the first candidate on the list is Jonathan Urreta, who already said that wants to return to Uruguay, but according to Radio Galega there are other two candidates: left-back Knut Rindarøy and right winger Pablo Álvarez. The first has barely played on the season due to a lack of adaptation plus the injuries, while the second is one of the less “loved” players by the fans.

Another situation to have in mind is that Sand doesn’t have an EU-passport, and Depor already had three players in the same situation: Guardado, Morel and Urreta. But it has been written that Guardado already has the Spanish passport, although the Mexican still inscribed as a foreigner in la liga. This situation should also be clarified on Monday. The final situation at the first team will be explained by RCDLC.com during Tuesday.
