THINKING OF GETAFE

03 Feb 2011
Mixed news before the clash with Getafe; Lotina finally has the reinforcements that he wanted, but at the same time the Basque coach has some important doubts, mainly Laure and Antonio Tomás. Getafe also has important casualties.

Coach Miguel Ángel Lotina finally has the reinforcements that he has been asking for; since Tuesday the trio of new arrivals, Xisco, Sand and Javito, is training at Abegondo and they are available for the coach ahead of the visit to Getafe FC (Saturday, 18h00 CET).

Of the three new signings the one in the worst shape is ‘Pepe’ Sand, the Argentine attacker ended exhausted after the first two trainings of the week, and he commented the issue with reporters, ”I just arrived from the UAE, so we need to feel used to it. We worked at the top and the partners have welcomed me, so I am content; I need to get used to the team, but am available for the coach.”

More easy are the things for Javito, who actually played on Sunday with Aris in Greece; the winger/playmaker told to reporters that he was feeling fine, “I have match fitness and if the coach needs me, then I am ready. I still have to meet my team mates and the style of playing and how we put pressure on the pitch, but this fact will come with the pass of the days.”

And for Xisco things were more familiar, despite not taking part of too many games on the season he feels ready to play , “I have given hugs to everyone. I spent many years on here and had a great time. I'm happy to be back to see the team mates and have spent many good moments; I’m available for the coach and we all are here in order to add things.”

But not all are good news for Lotina, because he won’t be able to count with Guardado, who travelled to Barcelona in order to continue with his recovery process, while he has four injury cases at the team. The main ones are right-back Laureano Sanabria ‘Laure’ and midfielder Antonio Tomás, duo that was part of the starting formation during last Saturday’s game.

The Madrilenian hasn’t trained during the week as he ended the match against Sevilla with an ankle sprain, while the latest scans determined that the Cantabrian midfielder carries an overload on the hamstrings after been replaced at minute 30 of that same match; therefore Laure will be doubtful until the last minute, while Antonio Tomás is already discarded from the clash with Getafe (he was training apart on Wednesday).

The other two cases are Saul Fernandez and Pablo Álvarez; the Asturian winger is out since the match with Barcelona due to knock on the knee, his return was expected for this week, but on Tuesday he started to feel new problems on the damaged knee and he is now delaying the date of his return, while ‘The Shark’ hasn’t trained during the week due to a neck contracture.

At least Albert Lopo and Ze Castro will available, the Catalan central defender was a last-minute casualty for the past game disputed at the Riazor due to a Soleus problem, but on Tuesday he was already running and working with the ball, and on Wednesday he took part of the session behind closed doors held at the Riazor. The same goes for the Portuguese defender, he was the one that replaced Lopo in the game against Sevilla, and he was replaced in the second half due to a muscular injury, on Tuesday he had fever, but by Wednesday he was already fine.

As it was mentioned before, yesterday the team trained behind closed doors at the Riazor; the players disputed a training ,match that was dived in two parts, and Lotina used two 5-2-2-1 formations for each half. In the first the team was: Aranzubia - Manuel Pablo, Colotto, Aythami, Ze Castro, Morel - Juan Dominguez, Ruben Perez - Michel, Adrian – Riki. In the second the squad was: Aranzubia - Manuel Pablo, Colotto, Aythami, Lopo, Morel - Juan Rodriguez, Ruben Perez - Michel, Javito - Lassad

At Getafe, coach Michel is under a big pressure as his team has only added one of the last fifteen points in dispute, to make things worse he has important casualties at the team, starting with Manu Del Moral, the striker is the only player at the team that has taken part of the twenty-one liga matches played so far and is also one of the two top-scorers at the team with four goals added to his tally, and now he will miss the clash with Depor after been sent off in the past clash against UD Levante.

Another important casualty is playmaker Daniel Parejo, he is an important piece at midfield and has scored three goals on the liga campaign, and will also miss Saturday’s clash as he picked a fifth yellow card against Levante. Michel is also pending on the status of defender Rafael López ‘Rafa’, who is doubtful due to a Soleus problem. At least striker Adrián Colunga (knee) and midfielder Pedro Ríos (muscular) are already recovered for the problems that sidelined them from the first trainings on the week. Both players have scored three times on the liga campaign.

Finally, to mention that the club’s officials of Getafe are trying to motivate the fans in order to attend to the Alfonso Pérez coliseum, for it they are giving a free ticket for the game against Deportivo to any person spending at least 40 Euros in the official shop of the club.
