CHANGES IN THE LINEUP

12 Feb 2011
Lotina is ready to make six changes ahead of the match against Villarreal; but won’t be able to count with Javito, because his transfer hasn’t arrived. The coach had a 4-4-2 draw prepared for the game, and now will probably use a 4-3-1-2.

New switch in the system of coach Miguel Ángel Lotina; the latest two visits of Deportivo meant horrible presentations of the Galician side, and now the coach tries to save the team –and his job- with a formation that includes six modifications compared to the team that was trashed at Getafe.

Lotina has had doubts throughout the week, mainly because he was wishing to count with
winger Francisco Javier Peral ‘Javito’, but late on Friday it wasn’t confirmed that he won’t be eligible to play for Depor. The transfer of the ex-Aris player failed due to an inconsistency on the computer system that administrates the international transfers TMS (transfer matching system), and therefore the case must be resolved by FIFA in a process that needs more time and that already cost the player to miss the past game at Getafe.

On Friday’s evening the club was still waiting for the transfer, and in the night it released a press article in which it stated that Javito won’t be able to play on Sunday, because the paperwork won’t arrive on time. For this reason the player will miss the clash and will have the chance to debut until next Sunday’s visit to UD Almeria.

The Basque coach had already decided to use a 4-4-2 scheme, with Javito performing at the right wing and with seven changes compared to the team that lost at the Alfonso Perez Coliseum. Now he will only make six changes and will present a 4-3-2-1 draw.

The only five men that are keeping their spots in this scheme are: Aranzubia, Manuel Pablo, Colotto, Rubén Pérez and Adrian. The first big change is to switch the line of five defenders for a draw with only four men at the back, with the questioned Ze Castro and Aythami Artiles leaving the team and with the return of Albert Lopo, the Catalan missed the last two games due to a Soleus injury.

In the end the defensive zone should be composed by Aranzubia at the goal, Manuel Pablo switching to the right-back position in order to cover the casualty of Laure for suspension, Claudio Morel returns in order to claim the spot at the left and the duo at the central positions will be for Lopo and Colotto.

At midfield the big novelty is the return of Juan Rodriguez, who still questioned by the fans due to his recent poor form, and who was also left out by Lotina within the last two games, because the coach himself admitted that the Andalusian wasn’t at his best moment, now the midfielder will want to prove that everybody is wrong as he will join Antonio Tomás at the pivote functions. Tomas is returning to the starting team after suffering a hamstring problem in the past home match with Sevilla FC.

Since the transfer of Javito didn’t arrive, now the modification is that the scheme will be a 4-3-2-1 figure, this involves the appearance of Ruben Pérez claiming the spot of the winger, which also means a triple pivote figure as the Andalusian midfielder will join Antonio Tomás and Juan Rodriguez at the centre of the pitch, then the plan is to put a playmaker –Valerón- and two strikers. The doubt is the names of the couple at the centre of the attack, Riki has a secure place at the starting team, and the main options for the other position are Adrian and Xisco
