Lotina won’t be able to count with Javito and Guardado for the clash against Almeria; the Mexican already returned from Barcelona and his comeback has been delayed until next week, while FIFA won’t resolve the case of Javito on this week.

Neither Andrés Guardado nor Javito will be available for Sunday’s visit to Estadio De Los Juegos Mediterráneos; both wingers are highly expected by coach Miguel Ángel Lotina as he’s planning to switch the playing system into a 4-4-2. But the plan will have to wait for another week.

Guardado already returned from Barcelona and the latest scans were positive, but the player has been training apart and Lotina will not pick him for Sunday’s match, because the order of the doctors is to delay his return until next week’s home match against Real Madrid.

The Mexican has been out since the home match against Sporting Gijón (December 18) as he sustained a grade one muscular injury; normally it isn’t a complicate case, but it turned to be more serious than expected as the injury was sustained close to the sciatic nerve of his right leg, The sciatic nerve innervates the skin on the posterior aspect of the thigh and gluteal regions, as well as the entire lower leg and is considered as the longest and widest single nerve in the human body.

For that reason any injury sustained close to the nerve causes a lot of pain, and it explains why the doctors are trying to be so cautious, without forgetting that the past injuries of the winger were also related to muscular problems and the club’s doctors want to avoid any chance of a relapse.

On Thursday the player himself was admitting that the best thing is to delay his return for next week, “The best thing is to leave it for next week, this taking in mind that they already gave me permission to train. We have taken all the measures in order to avoid new problems and should start next week training at the same pace than the rest. I don’t want to be pessimistic, but don’t trust on been on the pitch until I am sure. I think we detected what the problem was, so I think there won’t be any relapse.”

Meanwhile, the case of Javito still in the limbo; on Wednesday the player himself explained that the problem has been a money issue and not an error in the paperwork as it was said before. Aris Thessaloniki wanted the player to perform on the liga match disputed on January 30; therefore they were only open to send the transfer until the last day of the winter market.

But Deportivo sent the last part of the €150,000 negotiated with the Greek club until February 1, and Aris sent the transfer one day later, this means that FIFA received the operation in its transfer system two days before the deadline. Since the deadline had already expired then the case has to be studied by the Players' Status Committee.

And it turns to be that the meetings at FIFA Players' Status Committee only take place on Fridays, and the case of Javito isn’t scheduled for this or even next week’s Friday, which means that the winger could not only miss the clash with Almeria, but also the matches against Real Madrid and Osasuna, this last match will be played on Wednesday March 2, two days before the meeting of the Players' Status Committee.

The concern of Deportivo is that the statutes of the Players' Status Committee only require resolving the issue in a maximum of sixty days, which means that the entity may end analyzing the case until the first days of April, in that case Javito will only be available to play during the nine liga matches that will be disputed between April and May.
