Lotina has the doubt of Manuel Pablo, while he is thinking of allowing the appearance of Guardado and Sand as starters. Saul is also recovered. Also, it’s expected a new switch in the system.

Players are going in and out of the injury room at Deportivo; wingers Saul Fernandez (knee) and Andrés Guardado have finally joined the trainings as both were working at the same pace than their team mates during Wednesday’s session. Therefore both are already available ahead of the clash against Real Madrid (Riazor, Saturday, 22h00 CET).

But the good news end there, because on Tuesday it was confirmed that Xisco suffered a groin strain injury during last Saturday’s training, the doctors of the club informed that he will be out of action for four or six weeks. On the same day Manuel Pablo sustained a hamstring injury during the training session and he is now the big doubt for the game against the Madrilenians.

Further scans will be made today and Lotina already said that he will wait for the results in order to make a decision. But Manuel Pablo himself wasn’t too optimistic when he talked to reporters, ”It seems that there’s something; let’s see what the scans tell us. Right now I would say that I won’t be ready, because there’s a lot of pain. An injury is always unwelcome, especially when you're playing”

Manuel Pablo already completed 24 official appearances on the season, which means that he only needs one more in order to close the renewal stipulated on his contract, but it seems that he will have to wait for another opportunity. If the casualty of the Canarian defender is confirmed then Laure will claim his place at the right-back position. Another side defender, Diego Seoane, suffered a knock during Tuesday’s session, though it’s expected that he will be on the bench for the game.

Another casualty for the encounter is winger Javito, his case won’t be analyzed by FIFA on this week and is already accepted that he will miss the games against Real Madrid and Osasuna; actually he is currently  in Greece and will return until Friday as he asked for permission in order to attend some personal issues.

On Tuesday Lotina said that he is thinking in switching the system again, and it’s expected a 4-2-3-1 figure. The Basque coach also said that Guardado and Sand could be starters, and on Wednesday he tested nine of the eleven spots at the starting formation.

At defense, Aranzubia was at the goal, with Laure and Morel covering the sides, while the central positions were for Lopo and Colotto. At midfield, Rubén Pérez and Antonio Tomás were the two pivotes. The right wing was for Adrian and the left for Guardado.

The other two positions –playmaker and central attacker- weren’t tested, and there are eight candidates for those two spots: Valerón, Juan Rodríguez, Míchel, Juan Domínguez, Pablo Álvarez, Lassad, Riki and Pepe Sand. Lotina will decided it within Thursday and Friday.

At Real Madrid, all the attention has been focused in the UEFA Champions League match against Lyon; the Madrilenians achieved an important 1-1 draw in France and are optimistic about reaching the quarterfinals for the first time in eight years.

German midfielder Sami Khedira was replaced during Tuesday’s game as he sustained a quadriceps injury; new scans will be made today, but it seems that he will miss the clash at the Riazor. It is the only concern at the squad of José Mourinho.
