THE CHANGES OF LOTINA

19 Mar 2011
Depor’s coach is ready to change the half of the squad ahead of the clash against Levante; the main novelty is the possible return of Manuel Pablo, who could be replacing injured Morel at the left-back position.

The liga match against Levante UD will definitely present several changes in the lineup of Deportivo; coach Miguel Ángel Lotina is recovering four key players and is ready to make six modifications to the squad that lost against RCD Espanyol. It is also expected that the Basque manager will keep using a 4-2-3-1 draw.

At defense there should be two novelties; the first one is the return of Manuel Pablo; not to play on the right-back position, but to cover the casualty of Paraguayan Claudio Morel on the left. It would be the match number 25 for the Canarian defender on this season, which means that he is reaching the mark that means an automatic renewal on his contract.

The presence of Manuel Pablo in the game, however, is not totally confirmed yet as Lotina will take the final decision on Saturday. On Friday the defender was training on the grass of the Riazor and was saying that he is feeling prepared, ”I am feeling fine. I think I am ready, still we must wait as we have a couple of days before the match.”

The other novelty is the return of Diego Colotto to the centre of the defense after missing the game at Cornella-El Prat due to suspension. The rest of the defensive line will be the same one; with Daniel Aranzubia as the undisputed goalie at Depor; Laureano Sanabria ‘Laure’ will keep playing on the right-back position, while b>Albert Lopo will return to play alongside Colotto for the first time in three weeks.

At midfield, the novelty is the return of Rubén Pérez; the Andalusian also missed the last game due to suspension. The doubt is who will be his partner at midfield territory, the options are Juan Rodriguez and Antonio Tomás, this last player skipped Friday’s training due to a gastric problem.

There are also novelties on the wings, Pablo Álvarez is suspended after been sent off against Espanyol, while Desmarets is returning to the bench as Andrés Guardado is fit to play on the left. All appoints that Adrian will move back to the right wing as he did in previous meetings.

On Friday, Guardado was admitting that he isn’t at 100% and that he will probably won’t play for the full ninety minutes, “I won’t be a fool on the pitch; if at some point I feel tired then I would tell the coach. I won’t risk anything. Unfortunately I must assume things calmly, and I don’t want to live the same things of the past.”

The Mexican was also giving his view on the next two matches at the Riazor, ”To defeat Levante and Mallorca will mean the 90% of the permanence. We are conscious that it is complicated, seeing their statistics of the rivals they are doing a nice job. People is conscious that they are important part in the quest for the permanence, so we hope to receive the same welcome. They should be until death with us, as always, because they are an important piece in order to win on Sunday.”

The playmaker’s role will probably be for Michel, though Juan Dominguez also have his options. In attack, and with Adrian moving to the right, it seems clear that José ´Pepe´ Sand will have a new chance as a starter. The Argentine still searching for his first goal at the Spanish Primera División.

FILLING THE RIAZOR

First, they have reduced the prices of the tickets for the remaining games on the liga season, besides for Sunday’s match they are giving two additional tickets to every socio at the price of five Euros.
