Lotina is having important casualties at his team as he is planning to play with three strikers in the starting formation; meanwhile Sporting Gijón is also having important casualties ahead of the match with the Galicians.

The visit of Deportivo to Gijón in order to face Sporting (Saturday, 18h00 CET) is an important final toward the salvation; the Galicians need a positive result in order to avoid the relegation zone, while the Asturians need one more point in order to reach the magic number of 43 points.

For the match coach Miguel Ángel Lotina is having important casualties at his team; three men are already discarded: Antonio Tomás is evolving from his quadriceps injury, but the Cantabrian midfielder won’t be ready to play on Saturday, while Claudio Morel will probably miss the rest of the season due to the hamstring strain injury suffered during the past game with Atlético Madrid. The other player out is Albert Lopo, who was sent off in last Saturday’s game at the Riazor.

Perhaps the most important casualty is the one of Lopo, one of the leaders at Depor’s defense. Just to remember the fact that two of the three biggest defeats playing away from home on this season occurred with the Catalan out of the starting formation: 0-3 at Real Sociedad (matchday 08) and 1-4 at Getafe (matchday 22).

Manuel Pablo (hamstring) returned to train on Tuesday, but he isn’t totally fit to play and it isn’t know yet if he will be ready for Saturday. The team will travel on Friday to Oviedo and it’s expected a late test in order to know if the right-back will be available for Saturday. The presence of Depor’s captain will be important, mainly because Lotina only has two side defenders for the game: Laure and Seoane.

Other players in doubt are Juca (Soleus) and Ze Castro (muscular), while the good news is that Andrés Guardado is totally recovered from the knock that forced his exit during the past match with Atlético Madrid. Michel (gastroenteritis) and Rubén Pérez (contract) are also returning after missing the last game.

During Tuesday, Lotina was testing a 4-4-2 scheme that included three strikers at the starting eleven. It seems that Juan Rodriguez and Ruben Pérez might be the two pivotes at the team, while Adrian would return in order to perform on the right wing, Guardado will stay on the left, and in the tests Riki and Xisco were the two players at the centre of the attack.

Meanwhile, Sporting Gijón is facing the game with a sense of relief as it only needs one more points in order to secure the permanence; the problem is that coach Manolo Preciado is also having important casualties at his team. Starting with the Pichichi of the team Diego Castro, who is out for the next two weeks due to a hamstring strain injury, the Galician winger has scored nine goals on this liga season.

The other Galician player at the team, striker Nacho Novo, is out of the game as he is suspended after picking the fifth yellow card of the season in the previous match with Levante UD. Right-back Rafael Sastre (knee) and goalkeeper Iván Cuéllar ´Pichu´ (hamstring strain) are evolving from their injuries and already started to work on the pitch, but both men won’t be picked for the clash against Depor.

Meanwhile, Argentine striker Gastón Sangoy (Soleus) and midfielder André Castro Pereira (psoas) are doubtful. The duo is already training, but it isn’t known yet if they will be fit to play against Deportivo.

A lot of Depor’s fans are expected at El Molinón. As part of a deal with Deportivo’s club officials, Sporting Gijón is offering 3,000 tickets for the Galician fans that want to support their team. The prices are between the 40 and the 65 Euros, and by Wednesday 2,000 tickets were already sold. It was even said that the Asturian club could offer more tickets in case the demand continues to grow.
