Depor completed the last training session of the season with the heart broken, the players completed the session at Abegondo before 50 fans that were cheering up the players, many of them won’t continue on next season.

It was a sad day at Abegondo; all the players attended to train in the last session of the season. The only absentees were Andrés Guardado and José Sand. The Mexican travelled to Mexico since on Tuesday he will be part of the concentration that is preparing the CONCACAF Golden Cup, meanwhile the Argentine striker is already on his home country with his wife and his newborn baby.

The relegation was so unexpected for everyone that the club still hasn’t decided yet the dates for the first training session ahead of the season 2011/12. On Monday the players just completed a series of physical exercises during the training session; former coach Lotina wasn’t there as he gave a press conference before the training and then he left, so the session was directed by second coach José Luis Ribera, who is also leaving alongside his friend. There were 50 fans at the stands, as always the public was cheering up the players and chanted the names of Aranzubia, Manuel Pablo and Valerón. They also asked Lopo to stay.

The absence of Lotina from the training session was a fact that was criticized by the reporters covering the event, the major part of them were saying that it was a “coward” way to leave the club, however the Basque man returned after the end of the session and said good-bye to the players at the changing room. Also, after the training all the players took their stuff from the changing room, some of them were stepping Abegondo for the last time.

After leaving Abegondo the major part of the players and part of the coaching staff attended to a local restaurant and had a lunch, it wasn’t a celebration, but a way to say good-bye as several of them will probably leave. Some reporters where there, Javi Torres from Radio Galega even reported that Lopo started to cry.

Now a period of uncertainty has begun; starting with the question of who will be the next coach of Deportivo. The club hasn’t said anything on this issue, neither on the future of the major part of the players. The main rumours on the media is that the club will try to keep Aranzubia, Colotto, Rubén Perez, Riki and Lassad, while Guardado and Ze Castro could be already at the market.

Also to remember that a lot of players are ending contract and that none of them will renew their contracts with Deportivo, though there’s the doubt of Albert Lopo, central defender that has been linked with Getafe CF. The Catalan didn’t want to talk t reporters after the game with Valencia and neither posted anything on his Twitter account, something that he always did in the past.

And Lopo himself increased the doubts on his future as on Monday he, finally, wrote something on his Twitter account, ”Before any speculation about my future, I must say that nothing is for granted, so please respect my decision, which is not an easy one. Only I can choose my future and at this day it isn’t clear; I repeat, it isn’t clear, not at all.”

Guardado was another of the players that eluded the media after the defeat against Valencia, but on Monday he talked to reporters when he was arriving to Mexico, ”I don’t know what will happen; I still have a year of contract with Deportivo, and obviously what I want is to stay in Europe. My duties are with Deportivo; it was the side that opened the doors of Europe to me, and if in the end I have to play at Deportivo, then I will be enchanted.”

Finally, to inform that president Augusto César Lendoiro was pretty active during the weekend; he had two meetings with his advisors after the relegation was confirmed, and on Monday he was already in Madrid working in issues related to the club.
