Deportivo considers that Aranzubia is a key piece in the quest for the promotion to Primera, but the interest of other clubs might push him out of La Coruña. Recently he has been linked with Celtic Glasgow.

New coach José Luis Oltra considers that Daniel Aranzubia is a key piece in the squad that he is preparing for the season 2011/12; Aranzubia has been one of the most important players of Depor within the last three years and his presence at the team is considered as vital in order to fight for the promotion to Primera División.

Deportivo already told to the goalie that the intention of the club is to keep him at Segunda, something that was accepted by the player, but both sides left an open door for a possible exit in case that a good offer arrives. Actually, Oltra said in a previous interview that the club is exploring the market in order to search for two goal keepers, one to replace Manu and the other to eventually cover the exit of the former goalie of Athletic Bilbao.

And the ‘big’ offer for Aranzubia might be on its way; on Monday Marca was informing that Celtic Glasgow might be presenting a proposition for the keeper as they have been following Aranzubia throughout the past season. They are also chasing Irish goalkeeper Shay Given.

Other sources say that Aranzubia is a target for Atletico Madrid, side that just sold David De Gea to Manchester united for £17million (€19.3 million). Radio Cadena Cope has been insisting about this possibility since some weeks ago.

However, no offer has been presented to Deportivo yet, therefore the situation at the club is of expectation as no moves will be made until that possible offer arrives. It is commented that president Lendoiro will not allow the exit of the keeper for less than €8 million, which is his buyout clause. The amount might be high, but it must be reminded that recently the goalie signed a two-year extension that’s lasting until the year 2013.
