Adrian is completing a great performance with the Spanish U-21 team; he is one the spotlight thanks to his goals, while his agent is battling against Depor in order to allow his exit to Atletico Madrid.

Adrian López is finally exploding as a goal-scorer; he is currently the Pichichi during the UEFA U-21 tournament that’s taking place in Denmark as he has scored five goals, including two in the semifinal match against Belarus. One of them was a last-minute goal that allowed Spain to play the extra-time, get the ticket for the final and at the same time the qualification for the Summer Olympic Games in London 2012.

Meanwhile, in Spain, his agent Eugenio Botas is living a new chapter in his personal war against Lendoiro; as it happened with Piscu the agent is trying to take the player outside of Deportivo after ending contract with the Galician club and despite the clause that allows an automatic renewal in case the club decides to raise the salary of the striker.

This clause in the contract of the player is a normal measure agreed between the Spanish Players Association (AFE) and La Liga (LFP) and that was part of a collective agreement signed between both instances, but this agreement is expiring on June 30 and hasn’t been renewed. The idea of this kind of clause is to protect the Spanish U-24 players in order to give them the chance to keep working in the country. The only requirement is that the club must raise the salary of the player in 7% plus the inflation rate. The agreement between the LFP and the AFE also stipulated that any Spanish team wanting to have a player under this clause must pay a compensatory amount. In the case of Adrian the Galician club has warned that any side wanting to sign him must pay five million Euros.

Deportivo announced that on May 25 the club was using the clause in order to guarantee the continuity of the striker for one more season; however the agent of the Asturian player already had negotiated a contract with Atletico Madrid, something that was even admitted by the president of that club, Enrique Cerezo.

The point is that there are a lot of comments related to the validity of what Depor is doing, because according to some lawyers and the AFE the clause is illegal as it is bases in an agreement between the Primera clubs and the AFE that is no longer valid. Two weeks ago there was a first meeting between the LFP and the AFE in order to analyze the case, the LFP supported the position of Deportivo, but the AFE defended the right of the player in order to break his link with the Galician club, in the end it was decided to take the case to an arbitration commission.

This arbitration commission is having his first meeting during this day; the true is that instead of searching for an agreement what the commission will do is to name a judge that will have the last word in case. Atletico is waiting for the resolution in order to announce the signing of Adrian, while Depor is ready to accept the exit of the striker, but only if the club received the monetary compensation of five million Euros.

Meanwhile, it has been rumoured that Eugenio Botas might end taking Adrian to a foreign club, this in case that the judge gives the reason to Depor, just like he did with Adrian Lopez ‘Piscu’ one year ago, this in order to avoid the payment of the polemic clause.
