JUAN RODRIGUEZ GOES TO GETAFE

25 Jun 2011
After five years at Deportivo midfielder Juan Rodriguez is following the steps of Lopo and is joining Getafe in order to play for the next four years. He is leaving the club under big criticism for his poor performance on the last season.

It was confirmed on Friday; Juan Rodriguez is joining Getafe for the next four seasons after ending his contract with Deportivo La Coruña. It was a move already known since January, but it was made public until this week. But ‘Juanro’ won’t be alone on his moving trip, because he is joining Lopo, who has also signing for the Madrilenian club.

The Andalusian midfielder hasn’t been a favourite of the fans, actually on last season he was under big criticism for his performances with the team, however it can’t be denied that Rodriguez was an important player in the schemes of both Joaquin Caparrós and Miguel Ángel Lotina, just to mention the fact that he played in 160 of the 190 liga games disputed within the last five years (84% of the total).

Juan Rodriguez joined Depor for the season 2006/07; he was an experienced player that was joining the stage named as ‘Baby Depor’, a club of young promises discarded at other clubs that were trying to succeed at Primera División.

The true is that the ex-Malaga midfielder was always considered as a “multifunctional” man as he practically played in all the positions on the field. With Caparrós he played as a defense inner, winger and even striker; while with Lotina he was constantly used as a winger, and in one opportunity he had to perform as a goalkeeper after Daniel Aranzubia was sent off in a meeting with Barcelona FC.
