The agent of Colotto is in La Coruña negotiating the renewal of the defender, while Aranzubia has been linked with Malaga CF. The continuity of both players is considered as crucial for new coach Oltra.

Next week Deportivo starts its pre-season stage and coach Oltra wants to have a large part of the squad already closed, and one of the main things is to know who will be the references at defense. At this point the Valencian coach believes that these references are goalkeeper Daniel Aranzubia and central defender Diego Colotto.

But the true is that the continuity of both players at Deportivo isn’t for granted, because Aranzubia has been followed by some Primera clubs, while Colotto might not renew his contract. And this week is important in order to know if they will stay or not.

Aranzubia has been linked with a move to Atlético Madrid, Celtic Glasgow and more recently to Malaga CF. The keeper had two more years of contract with Depor and a buyout option of €8 million; the rumour is that Lendoiro will allow his exit starting at the price of €5 million. But the point is that nobody wants to spend that amount of money in a goalkeeper. Not even Malaga, side that’s investing a lot of money ahead of next season.

A report of newspaper La Opinión A Coruña was informing that Malaga wants to hire a new keeper, but that it isn’t a priority as they already have Willy Caballero and Galician Rubén Martínez, so they don’t want to pay a high amount of money on this signing. Lendoiro and Aranzubia agreed some weeks ago that the keeper will only leave if an interesting offer for both sides arrives, and the deadline for it could be this week as on next Tuesday the first team will start to train. So, his continuity is more certain with each day that passes.

More delicate is the situation with Colotto; his contract ends in June of 2012 and Lendoiro already said that if he doesn’t renew his contract now, then he will put the central defender on the market. And the agent of the Argentine player, Pascual Lezcano, is already in La Coruña and it was commented that he and Depor’s president were having a meeting during Monday’s night.

So far there are only speculations about the pretensions of Lezcano, some journalists say that he doesn’t want to play at Segunda, while others believe that there won’t be a problem in the attempt to renew his contract. What’s true is that this week will be decisive towards his future as Lendoiro will have a clear view of the player’s pretensions.
