Deportivo returns to training ahead of the season 2011/12; there are only four new faces, though one of them is the coach, José Luis Oltra. The first team begins to work targeting the return to Primera División.

The day has arrived; Deportivo kicks off the season 2011/2012 as the first team players return to work at Abegondo. On this day twenty-three men have been called to train; of them only three are new faces –the three signings made so far- but the big novelty will be to watch José Luis Oltra assuming his role of Depor’s coach for the first time.

During the morning the team will be divided in five groups and will pass the first medical tests of the season; then, in the afternoon, the team will have its first physical session at Abegondo. The plan of work for the first fifteen days is already defined; throughout this week, and until Sunday, the players will work at Abegondo during the morning.

The 23 players called for the first week of work:
Goalkeeper: Aranzubia, Marc Martínez and David Gómez.
Defenders: Manuel, Pablo, Laure, Colotto, Aythami, Rochela, Ze Castro, Morel, Seoane, Raúl García and Ayoze Diaz
Midfielders Juan Dominguez, Álex Bergantiños, Jesús Vázquez, Valerón, Juan Carlos, Saúl, Pablo Álvarez and Salomão
Attackers: Lassad and Riki

Then, on next week, the group will travel to Vilalba, a town of 15,000 inhabitants located 72 Km away from La Coruña; there the first team will be concentrated at Hotel Spa Attica21 Vilalba between July 18 & 24. This stage is important in a physical sense as the coaching staff will start to prepare the fitness of the players. Hotel Attica21 is a specialized station in terms of hot springs, so it will also help the players to relax and start the mental preparation ahead of the Segunda season.

For this stage three players will join the work: striker Adrián, midfielder Rubén Pérez and winger Andrés Guardado; however, probably, the last two will be the only ones that will join the team at this stage as Adrian still having a legal battle with the club due to his renewal.

Rodolfo Bodipo will be the last player to join the trainings; the Equatoguinean attacker has been called for July 26, but the club expects to find a solution for him before that date. He isn’t part of the plans of Oltra, and that’s why he is skipping the concentration at Vilalba. The planning for the days after this stage still to be announced, but clearly the team will be working at Abegondo and playing the friendly matches.

The plan of the club is to see the first team completing eight friendly matches on the pre-season, including the Teresa Herrera tournament; for the moment six matches are already arranged. The idea of Depor was to play the Teresa Herrera as one-game trophy against Atletico Madrid, but the problems had with the transfer of Adrian are complicating the things, so for the moment the date and rival for the event still undecided.

The six friendly games scheduled until now:
July 22: Viveiro CF Vs. Deportivo (Cantarrana, 19h30 CET)
July 24: Racing Vilálbes Vs. Deportivo (A Magdalena)
July 27: SD Negreira Vs. Deportivo (Xesús Garcia Calvo, 20h45 CET)
