It seems that the injury crisis of last season still chasing Deportivo. Four players are currently out due to injury reasons; two of them, Saul and Juan Dominguez, are serious doubts for the opening matchday at Liga Adelante.

The change in the coaching staff of Deportivo hasn’t cleared out the cloud of injuries that has surrounded the club within the last months. The first team has played so far six friendly matches in the pre-season and already accumulates four injury cases, two of them are big doubts for the opening matchday in liga against FC Cartagena: Saul Fernandez and Juan Dominguez.

Dominguez was the first casualty on the pre-season; he sustained a quadriceps injury on his right leg during a training session in Vilalba when he was throwing a penalty-kick. The doctors informed that he is unable to take part of the friendly matches still scheduled and at the beginning it is expected that he could be back on the week before the debut at Segunda, but nobody knows yet if he will be available for the meeting against Cartagena.

Similar is the situation with Saul, he fell down injured during the game against Real Oviedo; at the beginning it was said that it wasn’t a serious problem, but the most recent scans detected a hamstring strain problem on his right leg. The problem is located at the femoral biceps - the biceps muscle of the thigh- and is also affecting the back of the player. He was ruled out for the next three weeks and therefore he is also doubtful for the opening day against Cartagena.

The Asturian winger was showing his disappointment on his Twitter account, “Now, when I was gaining shape and was having confidence in myself, I am getting injured in Oviedo. I believe this is unfair after been working at the top day after day. The forecast is that I will be out for three weeks, but since this afternoon I will work at the top in order to be available for the debut in liga, though it will be difficult.”

Depor has more problems at the goal, because both Daniel Aranzubia and German Lux are currently out of the team. Aranzubia sustained a quadriceps injury on his right leg during a training session on the past week; he has been in therapy and was left out of the friendly matches until next week.

Meanwhile, Lux suffered an overload in the rectus femoris of his right leg during the last match with Real Oviedo, this problem is caused by hamstring tightness; he will be out for a couple of days, but it means that Deportivo is facing today’s match against Rayo Vallecano (19h00 CET) without a goalie of the first team, and therefore the spot will be for Fabril’s Marc Martinez.

And a fifth player daring physical problems is striker Lassad Nouioui; the Tunisian already missed a couple of friendly matches due to hamstring problems. He took part of the last meeting with Real Oviedo and even scored once, but the doctors aren’t taking any risk with him and he returned to La Coruña after the game in order to follow a special routine of exercises.
