Huge problems for Oltra; he has lost his three right wingers for Saturday’s meeting against Sabadell, while he is also having problems at defense. The rival is also facing some casualties and it’s the surprising leader at Segunda.

The plague of injuries is leaving coach José Luis Oltra with a minimal squad for the meeting with Sabadell CE (Saturday, 18h00 CET). There are five confirmed casualties for the match, but there are two men on doubt, and if they don’t recover within the next two days, then the Valencian coach will only have nineteen available players, barely enough to cover the eighteen spots for the liga meeting.

The biggest problems are on the right wing as Oltra already lost his three players for this position: Bruno Gama (groin), Saul Fernandez and Pablo Álvarez (both hamstring strain), so he will have to improvise with the two left wingers at the team, something he already did in the past match with Barcelona B.

On last Sunday, Oltra played with Andrés Guardado covering this position and with Diogo Salomão doing the same on the left; it was a good formula and all appoints that it will be repeated this Saturday, the problem is that there won’t be any available replacement on the bench, unless the coach picks someone from Deportivo B.

Another problem is located at defense, more precisely on the sides. Ayoze Diaz (ankle sprain) was replaced during the last game at the Mini Stadi, and although the club hasn’t discarded him for the meeting with Sabadell, the true is that it isn’t clear if the Canarian will be fit to play; on Wednesday he was out of the training session and it was informed that he will pass a late test today in order to determine if he will be ready.

The fact is that Manuel Pablo (hamstring) still needs one more week in order to rejoin the trainings, so Laureano Sanabria ‘Laure’ is the only available side defender for the meeting, at least among the players that count for Oltra, because he still has the options of left-backs Claudio Morel and Diego Seoane, players that were discarded during the pre-season and that suddenly are having the big opportunity to play in an official game.

Both men have spent five months without playing an official match with Depor’s first team; their last appearance was on April 30 as Deportivo lost at home against Atletico Madrid (0-1). In that clash Morel was a starter, but had to be replaced before half-time due to a thigh injury and Seoane was the one that replaced him.

Now Oltra has to make a choice; he could ‘rescue’ Morel or Seoane, but has other options like moving one of the central defenders to the sides. Rochela already performed as right-back defender in the past and Ze Castro can play on the left, though Oltra doesn’t like this option as he refused to do in on the past game with Barca B; actually he preferred to delay the position of Guardado rather than reconsider the position of his central defenders.

Another problem is located at the centre of the attack; Riki (Soleus) is out of action for at least one more week, and Xisco is dragging a muscular overload since the past weekend. The Majorcan attacker has big options of been recovered before Saturday, but the fact is that he skipped the training on Wednesday and will also pass a late test, so Oltra might be forced to pick Rodolfo Bodipo as he did in the Copa Del Rey clash with Girona.

The only good news with the injuries is that central defender Diego Colotto (muscular) and centre midfielder Borja Fernandez (groin) are already training with the team and the duo will surely be available for the clash at the Riazor, though Borja could be left out as he hasn’t played for a while.

The rival for the occasion is CE Sabadell CF, one of the two surprising leaders at Segunda as they have won their three matches in the league. They represent a solid block that scores a lot of goals, actually they currently are the team with more goals in favour (9), though they don’t have a clear top-scorer. So far, four men have scored twice: defender Jesús Olmo, plus strikers Aaron Bueno, Manuel Lanzarote and French Thierry Alain Florian.

There are a couple of familiar faces at the Catalan team, starting with former Fabril’s goalie Ian Mackay, who was signed during the summer, but early in August he suffered a serious knee injury during the warming before a friendly game. He will return until December. The other familiar face at the team is 19-year-old defender Yann Songo´o, the son of ex-Depor goalie Jacques Songo’o. He hasn’t debuted yet with the team after signing at the last day in the summer market.

Besides to Mackay, Sabadell has two confirmed casualties for the game: midfielder Albert Puigdollers (hamstring) and central defender Jesús Olmo (muscular contusion). Both are regular starters; actually Olmo is one of the mentioned four players at the team that have scored two goals on the current Segunda season.
